The characters might not always make the best choice and you think “wtf did you do that for” but they are so well developed, relatable and that’s what makes you feel so connected to them that I can felt the most heartbreaking parts of this deep in my soul and I wanted to comfort both of them. Whilst Lili and Ben fail to cross paths again, the story offers far much more than this lost relationship. It is hard to talk more about the two timelines without creating a spoiler, but it’s one of those storylines where you know what is about to happen but there is just nothing you can do to stop it.I'm not always the biggest fan of insecure women, but she is so likable and tries to be brave, so it made her endearing. During her career, she's won numerous awards, including a Romantic Novel Award in 2018, and chalked up a no. CW from the author ~ this text contains potentially upsetting material relating to abusive relationships, emotional abuse and coercive control. It was so hard to choose the star rating for this book because of how well written it is to the point it’s extremely frustrating to have to sit through and watch the main character go through all the emotional abuse.

This book has me in a chokehold the entire time, I thought it was gonna be some kind of cutesy romance but it was so much more than that. It was a very passionate book with intense emotions following Lili/Alice’s amnesia but the romance aspect was still very slow burn. I loved that it’s split timelines too and it gives it more perspective and then things come together towards the end. Special thank you to Sophia at HarperCollins, she always sends me the best arcs, some of them that I would not normally pick up.The author’s writing style was complex, multifaceted, an element of mystery, romantic, and just brilliant!
