Led Zeppelin’s legendary untitled fourth album has a ton of issues and variances in terms of the labeling and pressing. Its mysterious marketing and guest musicians made this the highest-selling Zeppelin album of all time.

After just 18 days in Munich’s Musikland, Zeppelin emerged with an album that, while a predictably massive commercial success, is hardly their best. Nor is it their worst. Well done, everybody. It went to number one in the UK, Holland, Canada, number 2 in the US Billboard 200 (and was certified 23x platinum), and was a top 10 release in many other countries. Since its release in 1971, it has sold in the region of 37 million copies and is currently the fourth biggest selling album of all time. Not a bad day at the office, really. In the big wide world outside the closeted confines of Zep, disco, punk and new wave held sway. The advent of Spandau Ballet, Visage, Gary Numan, Duran Duran and the electronic movement that would initially be dubbed ‘futurist’ was also just around the corner.There is no fat on this album and every song is masterful.
