Stability equals safety and is not something to take for granted. Also, not to be taken at face value, is that these products come safe to use. In fact, with some DIY tower scaffolds, a lot of the most invaluable safety components are sold separately such as stabilisers, and even full safety kits. I would always recommend that you tie in to the building that you’re working on anyway, just to be sure, especially if you’re going to be working on a 6-7-metre-tall rig, as they can still wobble at the top, even with stabilisers in place. Material Obviously, these products come in different heights, but there is more to it than meets the eye. In fact, there are two measurements that you need to know about a tower scaffold. The first, which is the one used in the product description, is the overall height of the structure. The second, and the most important in my opinion, is the maximum height of the standing platform, which is usually a couple of metres lower. So, you need to work out if you can stand on that platform, and reach up safely to the height that you need to work at. In other words, if you need to be able to reach 6 metres and be able to work without stretching, you need a scaffolding tower that is at least 7 metres tall overall. Maximum load Scaffold Towers have large work platforms, which can comfortably fit a worker and any necessary tools and materials, while at the same time being both rigid and stable. Safety begins the moment workers begin assembling scaffold towers. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions when erecting scaffold towers, and never deviate from them by using non-standard or jury-rigged parts. Many reputable scaffold tower manufacturers have formed alliances with the Health and Safety Executive to develop sound methods by which scaffold towers are assembled, used and disassembled. The country of origin of scaffold towers is an important consideration as well. It's wise to choose a tower manufactured by a reputable UK or EU company, rather than one from Asia, where the manufacturing and quality requirements are not as high. Quality is critical, and as important as price & value when working at heights to ensure health and safety, so be sure you choose your tower scaffold with great care. At BPS Access Solutions, we have exacting standards for the scaffold towers we sell. In addition, we support our products with superior customer service. In general, aluminium and steel have historically been the materials of choice for scaffold towers, fibre glass has also become an option for Zone 1 requirements, but an aluminium scaffold tower has generally been accepted to be the lightest, most practical and durable form of scaffolding tower in recent years. Towers made from either of these metals are sound and reliable. For work around electrical sources, however, glass fibre towers should be used, since they will not conduct an electric current the way steel and aluminium do. If cost is a consideration, then steel is the better choice, since it's less expensive than aluminium. When buying scaffold towers, though, it's important to consider the application carefully. Regardless of what material you choose, be sure that it conforms with the BS EN1004 standard. If the tower comes from another country, be sure it carries a comparable rating. If the tower comes from Germany, for example, it should have a TUV mark. For all us sane folk, that probably doesn’t sound like the safest way to get things done, and so we usually call some scaffolders around and get the pros to do it, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Except for the expense that is.

To fight rust and corrosion, the steel rails have all been given a galvanised coating, something that is very much needed considering how much time it’ll spend outside in the British weather. In addition to the coating, Top Tower have ensured the longevity of their tower scaffold with some top-notch welding, and are so confident in it, they have given a lifetime guarantee. Supplied with soft ground anchoring spikes – again our own design (UK Patent applied for – no. 2532236) – ensures maximum grip, and therefore safety, when using on grass etc.You don’t need to be a pro scaffolder to set these products up, and they are available in a range of different sizes. And the best thing? They are yours to keep, so you don’t have to shell out every time you have to work up at heights. The best tow scaffolds are easy to setup and safe to use as well as reasonably priced and built from galvanised material so it’ll keep on lasting! Tower uprights have a "ribbed " non-slip profile for extra safety when climbing or erecting/dismantling the tower This is an adjustable tower scaffold, and you can set the height of the trapdoor platform in 30cm increments. The platform itself is non-slip coated marine plywood, and can be adjusted very easily without tools, just like the rest of the product.

For your safety - Tower is climbed internally through a trap door in the platform which is then lowered and becomes part of the platform Our NEW HOME MASTER DIY Aluminium Scaffold Tower has an unprecedented specification and build quality for this type of tower, with its welded frames giving supreme strength and colour coded braces making assembly fast and easy. Safe, stable and versatile, this tower will complement any home "tool kit" and is available in four sizes to suit almost every application from decorating your stairs to painting the outside of your house or pruning trees. All the components were of a high quality, and there were no issues with anything being misaligned, rusted, etc. Although, I have to say that some of the edges were pretty sharp, so I’d advise grabbing a sander and going over them before building the scaffold for the first time.

The Scaffold Tower: An Ideal Solution for Working at Height

What you see is what you get with our tower range- often you have to pay extra for platforms, wheels etc. with inferior, steel alternatives. Some even have unsafe/unfixed scaffold boards to stand on Scaffold towers are self-supporting, meaning they do not need to be leaned against any wall or building, the very benefit that makes a mobile scaffold tower such a practical form of high level access. Even though the tower does come with stabilisers, it is still very lightweight and so doesn’t feel quite as stable as a steel tower scaffold, and I would still advise tying on to a building, or using some extra structural support, especially if not on a completely fat surface. This is the maximum amount of weight that the structure can hold safely. Most of these products can handle at least 150kg, which sounds a lot, but if you’re going to be loading up the platform with paint cans, power tools, etc. that max load can soon be reached. So, be careful and do a bit of mental arithmetic before getting up there on that platform. Stability Able to be used at different heights, with a maximum platform height of 4.73 metres, Tubesca’s tower scaffold is just the thing to help you clean out those gutters without risking life and limb.
