About this deal

The spacious flybridge includes a comfortable entertaining area with ample seating around a table, double helm seat and separate sun-bed aft.

Listen to Volvo Paul's wise words on propulsion. Shafts are in my humble opinion the only option. There is nothing to go wrong, you won't have seal problems, props disintegrating, water ingress causing expensive damage and so on. Controlling a boat on shafts is very intuitive. If you thrown in bow and stern thrusters then you just have to think about where you want the boat and it goes there! I also looked at the Phantom 40, the boys at Essex boat yards showed me round a couple. I struggled with the Phantom 40, possibly because we had the Phantom 42. The 40 was just a bit smaller in every respect than our older 42 and I just couldn`t bring myself to pay more money for less. You`d keep bumping into things as you walked round the boat, I knew where to put my arms and legs but unfortunately the boat had moved! (in comparison to the 42). The Princess doesn`t try to re-invent the wheel, it just tweaks the design a little so that it does every very well. All the bits are in the right places, the quality of engineering installation behind the scenes seems up to scratch (you only really find out stuff like that when you own the boat yourself and can crawl over it a bit). This particular example has had very light use with low hours and presented in wonderful condition. Whilst Simon was clearly impressed by how well he was looked after during the sale, it’s the service he’s received since that has really wowed him. And having bought a boat through the Princess Approved Scheme, he has experienced the perfect example of what has become industry leading customer care. The Princess 42 Li is an impressive hand-propelled battery-powered mower with every feature you need to produce a perfect lawn finish.

I'm sure, that from the above, you can tell that we had decided to go for the Sealine - so what's the problem? Now, after speaking to various people, rep from Ancasta and Fairline rep, who we felt were giving 'fair' views on each product, we are unsure. Much as all three are lovely boats, the sealine is technically complex and the jury is still out that IPS drives really save fuel, but the servicing is definitely expensive,so factor in any expected fuel saving against service cost and long term reliability. Unless you plan on doing thousands of miles it probably isn't worth it. No doubt the sales man explained how easy it is to park an IPS boat, its not difficult to park a shaft drive boat either - have some lessons and get some practice I would have to say that I do recommend this lawn mower to anyone with a larger-sized garden. However, there might be people who benefit from it more than others. For example, if you want something that simply gets things done and doesn’t have a wealth of options, then this might be a little too complex for you. But if you want something that will easily replicate the power and versatility of a petrol mower, then you’ll likely get on with this very well, thanks to the various mowing options. the trouble with boats is that they are half sea going boat and half caravan/country cottage. You are in a lovely position buying new - but although the fairline and sealine interiors are new/fashionable etc when you go travelling its the boats ability that you will remember - especially if the wind changes and it gets a bit rougher than you might have liked. Both bathrooms are good and they both have "tube" showers which you can actually use in anger without swamping the room in water. We`ve got the new Dometic electric single touch toilets which are really great, very luxurious and (relatively) quiet.Props removed, computer analyzed and re-profiled. New cutlass bearings. New shaft seals plus two spares per shaft pre-fitted. Engines re-aligned to shafts. We are going to use the boat as a second home as well as taking her on local trips and, when we become more experienced, take the occasional trip further afield to Jersey and France. I was a Fairline man through & through but they just didn`t cut it for me looking at what was on offer today. The Phantom 48 blew me away at Southampton in 2006 but it was a lot of money and to be honest the new Princess 50 will probably be my first port of call when I come into a few quid. If I was you I`d hold out for a Princess 42, I really think you`d appreciate it in the long term. Don`t get me wrong, a Phantom 40 isn`t a bad boat, it just wasn`t as good. We have viewed three new flybridge motor boats - Princess 42, Fairline 42 Squadron and Sealine F42. We saw them one after the other all on the same day and our views were:-
