I would definitely recommend this as a lovely light hearted read and am looking forward to reading more from the author in the future. Cox won her first television show role in 1996, presenting the early "Girl Power" show The Girlie Show on Channel 4. To reckon that we have too much of this stuff on our screens, to complain that The Great British Sewing Bee is a rip-off of The Great British Bake Off, or that Kirstie Allsopp should stick to property programmes instead of sticking tape to bauble parts is to say that we need fewer acts of semi-divinity in our lives and, as such, is complete nonsense. This is a used book - there is no escaping the fact it has been read by someone else and it will show signs of wear and previous use.

Sadly, it was an endless slog through fairly uninspired scenarios peopled with relatively mundane characters. Perhaps somewhere there are savages who manage to live with mismatched condiment vessels, but neither Keith (Brymer Jones, the master potter who has been a judge since the first series) nor Rich (ceramics expert Richard Miller, AKA “kiln man Rich”) have time for them here. The story was getting increasingly ridiculous and was really resembling a soap opera more than a well-written novel, so that's why I've decided to finish off here.The fact that the teacher in charge of the potting is a handsome, clever and artistic man who generates the usual instincts in the hopeful potters, can be literally thrown into the melting pot of the varying thoughts. I think this book was pretty much what I expected from Sara Cox - light hearted, humorous (but not lol) and easy to whizz through.The themes here are generally cuddly and inoffensive, whether it’s starting a new career later in life, cross-generational bonding, female solidarity, or learning to better understand and support your partner.
