About this deal

It is an allegory for the sins repeating, the futility of complacency and the necessity for individual transformation.

Because I was looking at those awesome Mœbius pages all the time, it kind of percolated in my psyche and I was dreaming about them. The journey begins with the introduction of a rather ragged and down-on-his-luck private investigator named Korben Dallas John Difool. In 1989, Jodorowsky wrote a short story, In the Heart of the Impregnable Metabunker, to accompany the release of Les Mystères de l'Incal, which would later serve as the basis for the Metabarons franchise of graphic novels. Immediate Sequel: Again starts with John falling to his death and saying he must remember like the end of the original series.Extinct in the Future: Deepo impresses Rsimo by using his power to create a rose which was extinct for generations. Some touches are borrowed directly from Dune: the Emperoress, a "perfect androgyne", or Aquend, a planet composed entirely of water which is Arrakis's seeming opposite, and a "mentrek" who betrayed his former master. A number of important cast members in Final Incal appear to come out of nowhere despite being familiar to Difool, as they were introduced in Before the Incal. The concept of the Incal was inspired by the Great Work, that is, "the process of working with the prima materia to create the philisopher's stone", the first two phases (nigredo and albedo) correlate with the Black Incal and the Luminous Incal.

The Incal is absolutely well known all across the universe, but in America, somehow it had a harder time penetrating mass culture.

Deepo, Difool's loyal and good-hearted "concrete seagull"; generally smarter and more resourceful than John himself. Yes, his name alludes to the fact that he's kind of a dumbass, but in the Tarot, the Fool is the first of the Major Arcana, and symbolizes chaos, infinite possibility and the beginning of a journey, which are all motifs that apply to John. Humanoids executives, who note the publisher has rebuffed inquiries from Hollywood over the years, say they prefer to have Waititi develop the script before deciding on distribution.

The publishers sued Luc Besson, director of The Fifth Element (1997), claiming that the film borrowed graphic and story elements from The Incal, but lost their case. His story is presented in "Before the Incal": he is the son of a prostitute, and started as a PI while investigating on the children of the red ring prostitutes. It was also daunting [for me] and I know people will jump at trying to compare what we come up with to the genius strokes of what Mœbius did in the past. That was very scary for me at first, and it took me a while to try to come to peace with the idea of doing [my style] while trying to expand my graphic language. Arguably, while the techno-fetish side of cyber-punk was influenced by Japanese Manga (Otomo's "Akira")- Giraud gave it the "film-noir" aspect.
