After a long break of over 30 seconds, the sound quality of the Edifier R1280DB's is back to its original state. I feel like every frequency the piano can reproduce has as much power and authority as all the others.There is a point where pushing the volume can result in a slightly muddy sound, this is one of the areas where EQing or toning the bass down a bit will give you more freedom in the volume department, as some of the lack of clarity at higher volumes seems to come from the bass overpowering some of the mid frequencies. They do work surprisingly well for my use case at work with very specific genres, and for that I couldn't justify replacing them. Although the R1280Ts and R1280DBs are a bit heavier than the other two sets, it's still very negligible when compared to the speakers it's meant to be placed on. Even though the finish is advertised as being easily integrated into any home aesthetic, I do feel like in a primarily black setup, they may come across a little like a hipster sitting at a lunch table of goths. If you have them too far away from any surface, their ability to project high-quality bass and treble diminishes greatly.

At the bottom, there are optical and digital phono inputs that have a power switch at the upper left part of R1280DB. Despite their small size the Edifier R1280T find a pleasant balance in their weight, where they are light enough to be easily moved around, while also managing to not come across as cheap or of low build quality. Unlike the Edifier R1280T and R1280Ts, the R1280DB features two auxiliary inputs - one for coaxial and one for optical - rather than just one optical input. If you’re looking for a more lightweight bookshelf speaker, then the s-series might not be a good choice for you. It is not a wholly balanced compromise sound quality, nor is it vulgar, without characteristics, but the sound sounds so comfortable.
