About this deal

Grace Ivers is an introverted freshman with a mild case of OCD that's as endearing as she is quirky. Prone to babbling when she gets nervous, I knew just after a few short lines that I'd love her. Her internal dialogue never failed to bring a goofy smile to my face. Another wonderful addition to Elle Kennedy's Off Campus series. Delivered with Elle's trademark humor and vivid characterization, The Mistake is another fantastic read for me.

Lies, lies and more lies, because in every one of those instances, the truth is a total bummer, and the last thing I want is for my friends and teammates to feel sorry for me. There was the one "friend" of Grace's, Ramona, that I wanted to punch in both ovaries and then not-so-gently push her off a bridge because hello twat alert! I was glad to see that Grace wasn't such a pushover with her as she was in the beginning, but hopefully she never gets a book. I swears every time I read her name all I could think of was crazy Ramona from Real Housewives and I wanted to reach through my kindle and throttle her. Una novela que te mantiene atrapado entre sus páginas desde el principio, pero no consigue transmitir tanto como la primera parte de la saga. Grace, on the other hand, is adorable girl with a heart of gold. Maybe a bit predictable and socially awkward, but in my opinion it worked pretty well. She’s a freshman and a virgin, who doesn’t have a filter when talking to hot guys, which frankly means she blabs everything; some stories were comical! Grace keeps saying she has "minor OCD" because she likes to clean. I know this is a super minor thing, but it's a huge pet peeve of mine (as someone with OCD who is severely impacted by it). If it was just said once, I could ignore it, but it was brought up again and again by different characters. Also, Grace wants to be a therapist- she's a psych major! She should know the difference. One of the best parts about this book is that even with some of the more serious things going on in Logan’s life, it still made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion. It was straight up funny!

Grace is understandably annoyed with all of these people. She becomes quite upset in the canteen, except then Logan arrives and kisses her on the cheek, and asks her to follow him. The two of them leave together, so the friends are forced to believe Grace. This is a simple yet complicated love story that just works... the conflicts are real not manipulated. I would suspect those who went to college and had the coming of age experience there... would relate to this. In her usual fashion, Elle Kennedy delivered very steamy, get ready to change your panties New Adult romantic comedy, that will make your heart swell, your lady parts beg for attention and laugh out loud like crazy lunatic. Much like The Deal, The Mistake's biggest strengths are its likable and relatable characters. John Logan and Grace Ivers may be your typical college-age kids but they both have goals, ambitions and life outside "finding the one". I liked that they act like college kids and their struggles and issues fit within that age range. These characters worry about school, they worry about their prospects after college, they worry about their future, etc. Although I found this an enjoyable read, I couldn't help but compare it to "The Deal", and find that it didn't quite measure up. I didn't like that Logan was so hung up on Hannah, and then the realization later on just made me roll my eyes a bit.The Mistake is my second book by Ms. Kennedy and I’m anticipating more books in the Off-Campus series. These Players, Friends, these BROTHERS! I could listen to them for days. I swear they should have their own talk show because I WOULD HANDS DOWN .. WATCH ALL THE TIME! Even reading a few passages will make you want to dive into this series (TRUST ME).

Grace is fighting new experiences too...she is feeling like she is only following in Romona's footsteps...the only friends she has made are Romona's and she doesn't even like them all that much. They have caused her distress and she is thinking maybe this roommate thing with her childhood friend is not the best. Earlier this year, I read and ADORED book 1 in this series The Deal. It was everything I could ever ask for in a NA romance – fun, entertaining, and truly a breath of fresh air with likable main characters, witty banter that had me grinning from ear to ear, and a believable romance that wasn’t just hinged on a heroine having big boobs or a reformed playboy hero like so many NA books today. Not only did I fall in love with the story and characters, I also found in Elle Kennedy a new author to book stalk and whose writing was so fresh and engaging I couldn’t wait to read more from her, especially this second book in this series. Thus, I’m really sad, disappointed, and quite frankly, a tad bit annoyed that I didn’t love or even like The Mistake much because believe me, I wanted to love it badly.

Really good college romance! I have to admit, I still loved The Deal better (it had more of a "spark" to it), but this was a fun read too.
