About this deal

Defects that have been caused by wrongful use, incorrect installation, incorrect repairs/modifications, or maladjustment of the product, or neglect, including but not limited to “burn in”. You took that photo we mentioned right? Because you’re going to need it now. Using the photo that you definitely took as guidance, install the keycaps by positioning them on top of the stem of the keyswitch and firmly pressing down. You’ll feel a small amount of resistance as the keycap is pressed down onto the stem. When the key has been pressed all the way down, the keycap is on. The OEM switch puller is much more useable since it is larger and allows the user to better grip the switches. The price is pretty low, but that also means that the quality isn’t great. Fortunately, Rama Works offers a better version of this keycap puller. Steps For Removing Switches Tools Needed

In this article, we’ll be answering all those questions. We will show you the easiest way to swap out mechanical switches and all the important details that enthusiasts need to know when dealing with these kinds of keyboards. What are Mechanical Keyboard Switches? The warranty period starts when the product(s) is delivered to the first end-user. This warranty does not extend to any product whose serial number has been defaced or altered, just as the warranty will cease if you make modifications in the software not authorized by Keychron. Mechanical Keyboard Switch Compatibility

You don’t technically need a keycap puller, as you can lever keycaps off with a thin plastic tool, or in some cases pull them off with your fingers; however, you will need a switch puller. Switches are nigh on impossible to remove without the correct tool. First, unplug the keyboard from your computer, unless you want to type random garbage in while you swap the switches. Using the switch puller that came with the K70 Pro Mini as an example, press the tool down onto the key until both arms slide down the sides of the keycap and hook underneath the edges of the cap.

Hot swappable keyboards are great, because if you’ve gotten bored or have grown unsatisfied with how your current switches feel, you can swap them out to breathe new life into an otherwise aging keyboard.

With all the new switches installed, plug the keyboard in and open keyboard-tester.com. This will show you what key you’ve pressed. Press down on the stem of any switch to type the corresponding character in. Now find the keycap that matches and press it onto that switch with the method we described. Repeat this step over and over until all the switches have the correct keycap on.

Before you dive into swapping out your switches, remember one thing: Not every mechanical keyboard has switches that you can easily swap out. Some mechanical keyboards have switches that are soldered to the PCB, and what that means is that you must desolder the switches first before you can remove them. The warranty covers all defects compared to the specification of the product in question that may arise in the product within the below-mentioned warranty period, however, with the exceptions set out below. Before getting started, identify the switches placed on your keyboard. Make sure that the switches are compatible with the keyboard. And also, take this opportunity to do any modification (lubing, filming, spring swap, housing swap, etc.) Remove the Keycaps

It is a product that can be removed by simply putting the Gateron Switch Puller on the switch and pulling it out. Gently pull out the switch using a switch puller. For keyboards with soldered switches, desolder the switch from the circuit board first.

Another thing to take note of is the switch compatibility of the keyboard. When it comes to hot-swap keyboards, there are generally two types: optical and mechanical. Optical keyboards are only compatible with optical switches. And likewise, mechanical keyboards are only compatible with mechanical switches. Once all the keycaps have been removed, use your switch puller to take out the switches. First, align the switch puller to the gaps found on the top and bottom of the switch. Once a proper grip has been established, gently pull out the switches. Keychron products marked as being a special or a limited edition cannot be guaranteed in case of replacement to be replaced with an identical product. Accessories and spare parts (including but not limited to cables, carrying case etc.) sold separately i.e. not bundled with a Keychron product. The Corsair K70 Pro Mini Wireless is hot swap compatible with all 3-pin Cherry MX-style switches. It's a great place to start for getting into customizing keyboards. Step 1: Remove the keycaps But with that said, the most significant reason to remove and replace switches is experimentation. As we have mentioned earlier, there are tons of switches outside the Cherry MX series. With hot-swap keyboards, users can try out all those switches without purchasing a new keyboard.
