About this deal

The characters in Shadow Jumper are incredibly dynamic and flawed, making it easier for students to relate to them on some level. When teaching this book, you should encourage your students to analyze each character’s motivations and development throughout the novel so they can understand why certain decisions were made at specific points in time. You may want to assign individual character studies or have your class discuss characters’ relationships with each other; this will help them gain a better understanding of how characters interact with one another within a larger context. This sounds like a fascinating story, Tracy, and your review is of course wonderful. I've heard of being allergic to sunlight--what an interesting way of presenting this! I am intrigued. Oh it sounds interesting! Even the topic and you're right the cover is also really fun. It's a new one for me but I'm happy to see you had a good time. Once your class has finished reading Shadow Jumper by J.M. Forster (or at least most of it), it’s time for meaningful discussions! There are many ways you can facilitate these conversations; one way is by having each student select a passage from the text that resonated with them personally or reminded them of something they experienced themselves, then asking them to explain why this particular passage was meaningful or significant to them. Other approaches could include having each student come up with questions related to characters or events in the novel; then using those questions as prompts for discussion or essay topics throughout the unit. You could even assign roles among your students – such as protagonist or antagonist – and have them act out scenes from the novel!

Aunty Lil was a joyful, happy and cheerful character that made me laugh at her expressions that she thought her jokes were funny but they were not. I enjoyed this review for a variety of reasons. Like you, I love the cover and it reminds me a bit of that puzzle I worked not long ago, though it had bright colors for its skyline. Lastly, I read a book several years ago, that I believe took place at either Oxford or Cambridge, where the characters did a lot of rooftop jumping. J M Forster is an award-winning writer of books for children and young teens. She lives in Gloucestershire with her husband, two sons, Ben and Louis, and Frodo, the Australian labradoodle. Shadow Jumper, her popular mystery adventure for 9 year olds to young teens, has now been joined by a long-awaited sequel, Twilight Robbery. J M Forster has also published Bad Hair Days, a touching mystery about family, friendships and being different. Charlotte was diagnosed with EPP when she was just two years old. Shadow Jumper is full of colorful characters and exciting storylines, which makes it perfect for creative writing exercises in the classroom. You can have your students creatively re-imagine a scene from the book or write their own short stories inspired by its themes or settings. Creative writing activities are great for engaging reluctant readers since they give them an opportunity to express themselves through words or art instead of just reading alone. This is a well-written story about friendship and family that is filled with surprises, twists and turns. The outcome may not be what you’d expect, but the journey offers entertainment and food for thought. EPP is an extremely rare and lifelong inherited condition arising from a high quantity of protoporphyrin in red blood cells, resulting in immediate pain when exposed to the sun’s blue light. Often occurring in childhood, EPP manifests as intense burning and itching of sun-exposed skin, especially on the nose, cheeks, and hands. It’s often followed by redness, swelling, or blanching, lasting from minutes to days. Beth was a cautious character, very organised and knew what she wanted in life. I like people who are strong minded in this way. I have to agree that the cover art is amazing, although Kelly is quite welcome to a jigsaw puzzle with all that same colour in it!I thoroughly enjoyed the book as whilst reading it I loved the way I was able to build a picture in my mind. Once you were involved in the story it was popping with a new matter. Elisabeth Anna Rufener. 1Shadow jumping disease is caused by a rare genetic defect: When exposed to You obviously enjoyed this book and it seems as though it was really well written and articulated by the author. He slid faster and faster. The sheer drop loomed below him. A wave of panic swept over him as he careered towards it, fingers sliding uselessly off the slates. A sob rose in his throat. He didn’t want to die, but it really did feel like the end. Any second now he’d plunge off the edge. Four-year-old Charlotte suffers from a condition known as EPP – erythropoietic protoporphyria. He took a couple of deep breaths and shook his arms to relax the taut muscles. Then he stepped forwards and jumped, one leg stretched in front of the other, like an athlete soaring over hurdles, his eyes fixed on their target. For a fleeting moment his body filled to bursting with a tingling thrill before he landed with a grunt in a narrow band of shade. It seems interesting that the author did not include a romance between the characters. As this is also different I think that it is a good thing. I like the sound of this book. The themes in particular make me want to read it.

I loved the fact that a character like Aunty Lil was added to the story as her ferocious jokes that were not funny made me laugh.

His body ached all over but he needed to pull himself together. His next move would either save him or create a crumpled, messy heap in the street below. If he could just see what his shirt was caught on. I think the words Kelly was trying to think of were Xeroderma Pigmentosum, or XP and I think I am hard done by when I don't enjoy being out in the sun particularly!
