We are introduced to this great man where it all began, his year of birth, and progress by charting the most important snippets of information detailing the prominent aspects of his early life, coming-of-age, forming of opinions and the unsurpassed awareness he has raised to some of the scariest and greatest environmental challenges of our generation and beyond. What's superb is there is just enough to enable a child to become curious yet not enough to overwhelm, which is crucial at this stage in their reading career, and the colourful, fun illustrations complement the text perfectly. Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara, born in Barcelona, Spain, is a writer and creative director perhaps best known as the author of much of the Little People, Big Dreams series. I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers. The images are great and I loved how the book also focussed on his interests in fossils too as that was really his first true love! I thought it was good to show how much of an impact he has made by showing some of the different animals, insects and creatures he has named after him too - he will certainly be greatly missed when he does pass on as he has been a leader in his field bringing the animals and wildlife to our screens and a great conservationist in his later years. In this book from the critically acclaimed, multimillion-copy best-selling Little People, BIG DREAMS series, discover the life of David Attenborough, the inspiring broadcaster and conservationist. David Attenborough by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara is another charming entrant to the Little People BIG DREAMS series that has become a must read for me. This is a wonderful series that excels at educating, as well as entertaining, both young and old with an impressive collection of notable figures of the past and present who have made a significant contribution to their chosen field. The mini biography and timeline at the end are missing in my e-galley, which is disappointing. I always find these books don't give me quite enough information, and I rely on those bits at the end to help fill in some of the gaps. David Attenborough's tireless dedication to nature conservation has made him a beloved figure and an inspiration to future generations. I had this book thrust upon me by an enthusiastic seven year old and while it works as a brief introduction to Sir David Attenborough's life and achievements, the illustrations created more questions than answers. My only slight criticism would be that the image of David Attenborough 'today' with his concerns for ocean pollution looks as young as the image when he graduates from university, and I feel that for many young readers an image of him as an older man would be more familiar.Another fabulous edition to this series about true legends. One of my favourite men on the planet and a lot of other peoples too. A lovely introduction to teaching children about great characters and also to inspire them Sanchez Vegara's David Attenborough explores the life of a most beloved naturalist.
