Also the handband seems less hostile and seem to hate me little less now.This is what the Sundara will look like on your head if you’re outrageously overdue for a haircut like me. if I’ve to pretend being one for a while and crank the volume all the way up to 80% or more so on my Q5. Sundara still sounds very coherent without busting a single seam at any frequency range. Vocals, Cymbals, snares and guitars continue to rein in their domain without any serious trespassing issues. In fact, I really enjoyed listening to Sundara at the volume I wouldn't have dared to listen if it was my rather misbehaving but beloved —M50x. The grain in the Sundara’s treble response (very mild, by the way) isn’t a deal-breaker for me, especially as most of the genres that bring this issue to light are better-suited by other of my headphones for other reasons. You won’t run into these issues with most ambient, or classical, or jazz, or any of the other genres with which the Sundara excels. For these genres, the Sundara treble is sufficiently detailed, airy, and gorgeous. Mounting the headphone on the test fixture was super easy requiring no manipulation to get left and right to match at dual frequencies.

Perhaps it was said to stir up some thought within the HIFIMAN design team and open up the possibility of an improved version of the iconic headphone down the road. I am in two minds about that because whilst I recognize the 3.5mm TRS plugs are a setup in quality over the 2.5mm mono plugs it does mean aftermarket cables previously used on the likes of the HE1000 are now redundant on the Sundara.
