The main competition for the Xiaomi MiJia 360 is from Samsung, in the form of the Gear 360. Currently, the action camera market is split into two. There’s GoPro and then there’s everyone else. Overall, the Xiaomi MiJia 4K Mini is a strong choice for those looking for an action camera without the GoPro price tag.

It’s worth mentioning the Kodak PIXPro SP360 as it hands-down beats the Xiaomi MiJia 360 in terms of video quality and resolution. But, it does suffer from stitch marks and requires a technical post editing of videos to get a premium finish. degree cameras are a category of their own, but this can do everything other action cameras can – and more – for a similar spend. It's worth a serious look. After all, you can't miss a thing! As well as producing JPEGs, the Yi 4K+ records raw images at DNG files. However, shooting in raw does require a little patience, with an approx. 10-seconds wait between each shot. It also doesn't produce the cleanest raw photo you'll ever see, but they're good enough to produce some much better-looking results through Photoshop. Not convinced? Try these With high resolution (though no better than the Hero 11) and excellent features for editors, including Bluetooth mic support and HDR, plus a neat tripod mount, pros should investigate. Secondly is the 360 technology, which until now, has been limited to using multi-camera setups to achieve high resolution 360. With improvements in lens quality & mobile camera chips, you can now cram everything needed for high-res 360 into one small compact camera. When I first used the Xiaomi Mi Band, the companion app was poor. After a year it had transformed so much I didn’t recognise the original. The Mi Sphere App is starting off well, so can only get better!Like the more famous competition, DJI has high-quality horizon balancing and image stabilization, which has improved on the Action 3. The resolution limit is 4K, but in practice, this is the ideal resolution for action (and the limit of almost all TVs). More useful is the 120fps capability (or 240fps at 1080P). If you want the best balance of features, the previous GoPro Hero 11 boasts GPS to record your speed as well as the same 8:7 image sensor and 5.3K video as the newer Hero 12. At 60fps the results are impressively sharp and contrasty, with well saturated colour. Video can be a little choppy if you hand-hold, which is a result of the low frame-rate (particularly noticeable on camera pans) and the fact that Yi 4K+'s electronic image stabilisation only applies to 4K/30fps and below. Still, that's something for the follow-up from Yi, and besides, image stabilisation can be overdone (see the Sony FDR-X3000R review for proof of that). Purely based on the 360 photos alone, I think the Xiaomi MiJia is worthwhile but when you add in the 3.5k video it becomes a no-brainer. Finishing off with the battery life of the camera, Xiaomi has used the higher 1450mAh battery rather than the smaller capacity batteries that most of the compeating cameras use. Unfortunately, due to using digitally upscaled 4k video footage, this advantage is nulled due to the additional power required to capture the 4k and upscale it making the camera offer a lower maximum battery life than the compeating cameras with a smaller battery.
