About this deal

Evoked Dried-Tobacco-Leaf with VANILLA, VETIVER & PATCHOULI. In the first couple of minutes there's a burst of warm & fresh spices. As the sillage opens up, there's an evoked dried-tobacco-leaf note with plum-y/raisin-like nuances. All of the other notes are serving to support & enhance different facets of the evoked tobacco leaf. This has above average performance for a year-round wearing experience, but some people will become anosmic. Despite the rose note featuring prominently in Kismet's official scent pyramid, I honestly wouldn't classify this fragrance as a rose scent. The rose accord is very subtle and smells more like dried potpourri, which mind you works beautifully alongside the opoponax, patchouli and labdanum notes. I patiently await the cooler weather so I can start wearing my generous decant of Lubin Kismet. The rich, resinous notes found in this fragrance do unfortunately nauseate me if I attempt to wear this perfume during Summer. It's also important to go light on the sprays, as a little bit goes a long way. I was sampling a whole bunch of white florals in a row, and this is the only one that really stood out to me. I thought it was a little complex, I had a hard time describing it. It was definitely the most interesting in the line up. I also love cedar, and creamy ambers, and soft tuberose. I love Cedre, and Fred Hayman’s 273. This has an ethereal lightness but is still grounded with that amber that almost has a spicey vibe, but is still fresh and green, no dried spice at all. It’s like when sweet and sad or hard and soft collide in a striking way that is an extremely well-balanced tightrope walk that doesn’t leave you conflicted or in tears.

Frankly, I am really disappointed not to have found any value for money in this buy, because this perfume is absolutely overhyped. I mean, those two notes together are absolutely lovely...but nothing near what the note listing said for this fragrance. I'm guessing the "Vanilla" in it makes it as creamy smooth as it is. I guess I shouldn't complain because this is a completely dapper fragrance and I'm gonna wear the hell out of it, starting tomorrow morning, but yet again...I'm completely stumped as to what the actual fragrance notes for this TRULY are. These are different, although there are striking similarities with vanilla & patchouli, and this gets more similar to Tuxedo a few hours into the dry down. Tuxedo has vanilla-patchouli more forward and a more obvious rose accord, while Kismet for Men has a more forward vetiver. Both have excellent performance. Tuxedo outperforms.

I think a spray gives you more of that peppery osmanthus opening. I was very concerned, and I couldn't understand how this was the same juice i got in my sample. It can definitely be screechy and off-putting with the atomizer. To me, It's more freshie than gourmand...wasn't counting on that, but hey...it still smells fabulous! I'm posting this review to be informative for those looking at Kismet as an alternative to Rochas Moustache EDP. Contrary to others, I have not observed any change due to masceration. Smells and performs the same as when I opened it. To be perfectly honest, I generally disregard claims about masceration, since there's no way to reliably know how long it's been since a particular batch was made when you're buying it. In addition, I expect a quality fragrance to perform out of the box - I'm not in the market for scent bonds that need to mature (and if it needs to mature, the manufacturer should mature it and sell us the finished product). The tuberose note is reminiscent of salted meat and heavy cream, especially the moment when ghee (clarified butter) mixes with pork; it’s gourmand in the most unconventional way. A strange combination that is both attractive and repulsive to me. It’s like stepping into an Indian household after the owner had already prepared dinner and is now spraying air freshener to get rid of the scent.I would not splurge 200 € on for a 50 ml bottle of something I only enjoy for the first few minutes. EDIT: Actually, layering this with "Ameer al Oud intense" is perfect! Boosts it's projection, longevity and sillage with a nice spicy vanilla woody base. Kismet is a great smelling fragrance, but made for more formal/intimate situations on it's own. I've only had a sample of this, and I didn't have an issue at all with longevity, projection or sillage, but based on the price and others saying they regret buying a full bottle, I don't think I'll consider a full bottle. Then the warm mid notes and base pop out. The vanilla, opoponax and labdanum create that delicious waxy vintage make up smell, which i adore.
