Tyson Fury DOES care about becoming undisputed world champion when he takes on Oleksandr Usyk, his father John tells The Hook... after the Gypsy King compared it to climbing Mount Everest for the 16th time! We also learn in the scant product literature that the beer is made entirely from “summer barley, following a unique recipe,” using “techniques developed over centuries of brewing,” and that it is fermented with “specially selected yeast” and aged “on yeast, in the bottle, for months.” The rest of what is knowable about this beer is entirely derived from a much more subjective, but nonetheless equally cryptic source: my taste buds. The Profile of a Beer Enigma

The master brewer uses barley as the basic ingredient for his DeuS and, following first fermentation and maturation, it is transported to the Champagne – Ardennes region in France. The beer is allowed to re-ferment and will then mature for a minimum of 12 months. The bottles are gradually turned and moved to an upright position. TRANSFER GOSSIP COLUMN: Manchester United target FOUR January signings as Erik ten Hag plans major overhaul.... but Aaron Ramsdale will remain at Arsenal and Liverpool want Borussia Dortmund winger Donyell MalenDeus Brut de Flandres, introduced in 2001, is a remarkable marriage of brewing and wine making techniques. It’s served in an elegant 75cl bottle with a Champagne cork, wire cradle and a suitably discreet ecclesiastical-style label: it is, after all, a godly brew. Its life starts in the brewery, made with summer barley that is malted and kilned to an extremely pale colour. Hops are sparingly used as the Bosteels and their brewers are not looking for extreme bitterness. PSG boss Luis Enrique insists 'this is football, not basketball' after controversial handball VAR decision against Newcastle - and calls it 'like the script of a horror movie'

While Latin deus can be translated as and bears superficial similarity to Greek θεός theós, meaning "god", these are false cognates. A true cognate is Ancient Greek Zeus, king of the Olympian gods in Greek mythology ( Attic Greek: Ζεύς, romanized: Zeús, Attic Greek: [zděu̯s] or [dzěu̯s]; Doric Greek: Δεύς, romanized: Deús, Doric Greek: [děu̯s]). In the archaic period, the initial Zeta would have been pronounced such that Attic Ζεύς would phonetically transliterate as Zdeús or Dzeús, from Proto-Hellenic *dzéus. The brew’s bouquet is mildly perfumed and faintly malty; its body is light, but not thin. Up front, the palate is stimulated by enticing citrusy notes that are hard to identify on the first sip. The hop notes are gentle and subdued throughout — sharp rather than aromatic, but barely above the taste threshold. There is a second undercurrent of spiciness, which no doubt stems from a small addition of coriander in the kettle. In the stately salon in the grand house within the grounds, they point proudly to portraits of their predecessors, stern looking people who could be posing for immortality at the hands of a Dutch master.

By combining a form of deus with the Ancient Roman word for "father" ( Latin: pater, [ˈpa.t̪ɛr]), one derives the name of the mythical Roman equivalent of Zeus: the sky god Diespiter ( [d̪iˈɛs.pɪ.t̪ɛr]), later called Iuppiter or Jūpiter, from Proto-Italic *djous patēr, descended from Proto-Indo-European root *Dyḗws*Pahtḗr literally meaning ' Sky Father'. From the same root is derived the Greek vocative "O father Zeus" ( Attic Greek: Ζεῦ πάτερ, romanized: Zeû páter), and whence is also derived the name of the Hindu sky god Dyáuṣ Pitṛ́ ( Vedic Sanskrit: Dyáuṣpitṛ́, द्यौष्पितृ), and Proto-Germanic *Tīwaz or Tius hence Old Norse Týr. The final result is what Bosteels originally called Champagne Beer, designed to drink like Champagne. DeuS still comes in a Champagne-style bottle, and, when launched in 2002, the original label was a dead-ringer for Dom Perignon, using a similar shield-design. Naughty! Legal threats meant that the design was changed and the C-word dropped. Instead, it’s now “Brut des Flandres.” Regardless, to call it mere Belgian Blonde beer is to do it a disservice.
