However, because there are so many rows, it can feel overwhelming, and it may take some time to fully navigate the interface if you're not used to it. Size Options Build quality and the standard of finish are completely unremarkable too – which, in the context of the price, is almost remarkable in itself. The plastics used in its construction feel no more special that those used for the feet, and spending more will buy you far fewer exposed screwheads on the rear panel… but who looks at the rear panel, anyway? Bear the asking price in mind and there’s nothing to take issue with here. Features The 2 x 8W sound system offers enough power to bring use to the vast proportion of the 0-100 volume scale on the TV and it takes until well up into the 80s before the audio becomes noticeably distorted. Leave the sound mode set to Normal –there are no DTS or Dolby Atmos modes to worry about – and you’ll find a performance that’s both consistent and clear.
TCL TVs aren't as polished as other brands, as there are often issues with upscaling and local dimming. They also tend to have a wide variety of quirks to contend with. So this year, brightness is up, of course: HDR brightness goes from 1500 nits in last year’s specs to 2000 nits this year. We gather the full white brightness is 800 nits (impressive, especially considering the current 900 Series tops out at around 500) with peaks up to 2200 nits.
