Everyone, including her own mother, initially assumed she is Sovieshu's daughter, but she turns out to be Alan's child. Sovieshu doesn't take it well. It is made even more complicated by Ergy leaving a note saying Sovieshu is really the father. It is actually a distraction ploy to help him escape the Eastern Empire. The only thing is that the translation is not so good. It mixes the pronouns and genders quite often for example. But you can get the idea. And later we can wait and read it on Webtoons too!! First, the empress came from a family that has produced empresses for generations. So the empress, even if she wants to divorce the emperor, can't do that for fear that her family will be executed or the family's good name will be tarnished. She really loves her family and be loved in return by her family. And she actually was on good terms with the emperor, it's just that she is too work-minded, while the emperor wants a loving wife. Although the moment the concubine enters the scene, their good relationship went down the drain.The story itself is perfection! Again, I'm not a political reader fan, but I LOVE this! Plus the fantasy aspect is deeply intriguing! (Honestly wish I could say more on it because its my favorite LOL) Everything is so engaging and was SOOOO sad when it ended. I'm already desperate for the next volume even if I caught myself smirking at the turn of events. Crossed with Stating the Simple Solution. Marquis Karl attempts multiple times to get Sovieshu to reconsider divorcing Navier and marrying Rashta to secure a rightful heir, knowing the disastrous consequences the actions would bring regardless of his intentions. Marquis Karl suggests Sovieshu waiting a few more years before deciding if Navier is truly infertile and consider other options for a heir if the former turns out to be the case rather than trying to divorce and make Rashta the new empress. At one point, he even suggests Sovieshu just tell Navier the truth about why he is doing everything as Navier would naturally be upset about his actions. But ultimately, Sovieshu refuses to budge and goes through with said plan, only to regret it far too late when Navier marries Heinly and Rashta ruins the standing of the Eastern Empire as the new empress. Not to mention the baby he divorced Navier for wasn't his after all. At the same time, the prince of the neighborhood nation and the minister (I think?) of the other neighborhood nation are interested in the empress. They became friends with the empress (although because they know that the empress is married they maintain a respectable distance) and were seen together a couple of times. The emperor doesn't like this (even though it's pretty hypocrite of him -_- why can he has an affair with another woman but the empress can't even have friends with other guys?)

the story follows Navier the empress of the eastern empire, Sovieshu the emperor of the eastern empire, Rashta the mistress, and Prince Heinrey from the western kingdom. the illustrations are so beautiful that i had to get physical copies of the volumes that are currently out right now and i would totally recommend just based of the illustrations itself.
