About this deal

Variable Refresh Rate (VRR): VRR enables a gaming source such as a console or computer to deliver video frames as fast as it can, which in many cases is slower than the normal static refresh rate. It allows the TV to adapt to certain frame rate which reduces or eliminates lag, judder and frame tearing for more fluid and better detailed gameplay. Amplifier Assignment: The NR1711's seven discrete amplifier channels can be configured to accommodate your type of home theater setup. built-in Bluetooth for wireless music listening with smartphones, tablets, and compatible computers The movie we tested the receiver with was Greyhound with its totally breathtaking Dolby Atmos mix which is really an amazing movie by the way and if you like WWII films you will find this one really interesting. Now with our system set into a 5.1.2 channels configuration the NR1711 offered us exactly you would expect from a Dolby Atmos AV receiver but on a smaller scale. Slim design, exceptional performance: With a slim profile that is half the height of a traditional AV receiver, the new Marantz NR1711 delivers exceptional performance and sound quality.

For those without in-ceiling or upward firing speakers in their system, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization Technology simulates the Atmos experience with forward-facing drivers. Configure up to five speakers to replicate the effect of two in-ceiling speakers or utilize all seven channels to simulate the powerful effect of four overhead speakers. BT.2020 Color Space: BT.2020 or Rec. 2020 is a color standard which delivers a wider color gamut compared to Rec. 709. It covers approximately 75% of the total visual spectrum while the Rec. 709 covers only 35% (available on both models).

Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM): The receiver will enter ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) when it detects a gaming signal from a compatible device (such as a Xbox One) and allows for a smooth, lag-free gaming experience. During ALLM, the receiver disables the i/p scaler and Auto Lip Sync function. The new Marantz NR1711 includes six HDMI inputs and one output for all your favourite sources. In addition to 8K upscaling, all six HDMI inputs support Dolby Vision, HLG, HDR10+, 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling, 21:9 video, BT.2020 pass-through and current HDCP 2.3 copy-protection standard. HDR10: HDR10 is an open standard and currently the most popular HDR format on the market. It uses static metadata at the start of a movie to tell the receiver and your TV that the video content is encoded using HDR. DTS Virtual:X: Both models feature DTS Virtual:X which bridges the gap between DTS:X codec and the reality of so many consumers' homes, allowing you to enjoy multi-dimensional sound regardless of room size, layout, or speaker configuration. If you have a limited speaker setup you will miss a full immersive potential of your entertainment system. DTS Virtual:X adds height and surround audio effect to your system without adding height speakers. It works with multiple configurations and delivers immersive sound experience out of 5.1 or even 2.1 speaker layouts.

HEOS Built-in technology lets you access all kinds of different content through the NR1711. Listen to internet radio stations, or topopular streaming services like Pandora®, Spotify®, and TIDAL.

Speaker calibration – the receiver talks you through this – is performed by Audyssey MultEQ. This did a good job of working out speaker distances, EQ requirements and speaker sizes. As always, make sure that you have Dynamic Volume and Dynamic EQ switched off, but in most cases you want to keep standard Audyssey MultEQ on. MultEQ equalises for your room and speaker characteristics. Dynamic EQ messes with the sound differently according to volume level in what we think is an unrealistic way. In terms of its core audio characteristics the NR1711 comes with exactly the same specs we saw in the NR1710 last year so no real surprises to be honest. The NR1711 has 7 channels of built-in amplification with a rating of 50 watts of power per channel (8 ohm, 20 Hz – 20 kHz, 0.08% THD) which makes this receiver ideal for a small sized Dolby Atmos 5.2.2 audio setup with the ability to connect up to two subwoofers. As well as supporting 8K, the NR1711 also supports a wide range of High Dynamic Range (HDR) video formats. These include Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG. It also supports HDR10+, which enhances picture realism by sending dynamic Meta data to your TV, as well as Dynamic HDR. In short, whatever the format used by the film, game or stream, the Marantz supports it. Slim design, exceptional performance:With a slim profile that is half the height of a traditional AV receiver, the new Marantz NR1711 delivers exceptional performance and sound quality.

Dynamic EQ: Audyssey Dynamic EQ also features advanced DSP processing to deliver full range wide-band response, even at reduced volume levels. Dynamic EQ Reference Level Offset provides three offsets from the film level reference (5 dB, 10 dB, and 15 dB) that can be selected when the mix level of the content is not within the standard. HEOS® Built-in wireless multi-room music streaming technology:Listen from any room for a connected, whole-home audio experience. Additionally, the receiver comes equipped with Ethernet LAN (RJ-45) ports and a USB port, enabling both wired and wireless connectivity options. This allows for seamless streaming of content from online sources or connected devices. Enjoy 5.1 channel surround sound in your home theatre and simultaneously play stereo sound from the same source or another source in a separate room. Simply connect a pair of speakers to the multi-room amplified outputs or hook-up an additional stereo amp and speakers to the Zone 2 pre-outs. Music in both surround and stereo is also miles above what the Sonos bar can handle, and also better than other sleek receivers I’ve heard. Apart from the mentioned power, I actually do not think the NR1711 is behind the larger surround amplifiers I have heard in this class. Photo: Marantz The test room revealsThe Marantz NR1711 is half the height of a traditional AV receiver, but doesn’t sacrifice connectivity or features. Feel every dimension in Dolby Atmos. Enjoy a 5.1 surround speaker system and two additional overhead speakers or two Dolby Atmos elevation speakers, delivering dramatic overhead effects for truly enveloping audio including Dolby Surround up-mixer for legacy content. Marantz NR1711 features – It’s game on, but there’s a catch when it comes to 4K 120fps console support The NR1711 supports the brand-new Audyssey MultEQ Editor App. Go “under the hood” to view and adjust settings for detailed tuning, customize the sound more precisely to the specific problems in your room, and tailor the sound to your personal preferences, including: You can also choose various inputs in the HEOS app. And if you have other HEOS devices, you can select from their inputs to play on this receiver and vice versa. HEOS is one of the few multiroom systems which permits this flexibility.

Now if you are wondering, the NR1711 has no problem whatsoever if you are watching movies or playing games at 4K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz YCbCr 4:2:2 signals (32Gbps) or anything below that so in most cases you are going to be absolutely fine. This means that the PS5 will work without any problems. In the rare case where the receiver accepts a 4K/120Hz RGB signal (8-bit, 10-bit, 12-bit), like from the Xbox Series X for example, this is when this problem will appear and the only current workaround is to connect your source device directly to your TV and from the eARC connection to the receiver.Lastly our subwoofer was fed with all the low end it needed and a film like Greyhound has plenty of shaking to offer. Depth charges had nice volume, machine gun and cannon fire were punchy and with great oomph while the explosion of each U-boat or ship offered a nice shake to the whole room. Marantz NR1711 has a built-in Audyssey MultEQ room correction, which adjusts all the speakers to give almost the same sound balance in the room. This means that it is not at big problem if not all the speakers are of the same brand and type. Personally, I prefer to use the Audyssey Reference sound mode, which fixes problems and at the same time provides a natural sound balance. With both HEOS and our normal DLNA music player app we could send music encoded at up to 192kHz and 24 bits, along with regular and double-speed DSD. For some reason the DLNA app couldn’t send DSD natively, only in stereo PCM format, but the HEOS app had no such problem. Watch the latest movie or listen to your favorite tunes without waking the house. The NR1711 even lets you play the audio on both Bluetooth headphones and connected speakers simultaneously. If you have a family member or a friend who is hearing impaired, this is a great option to improve dialogue without raising the overall volume. With Built-in Dual Speaker Preset Memory Integrated ECO mode provides energy savings and an on-screen ECO meter. Use the receiver in power-saving mode to reduce maximum output power or adopt low-power strategies across settings. Either way, the sound quality that defines Marantz excellence remains unchanged.
