About this deal

MolluDab ® is a clinically proven topical treatment which contains 5% potassium hydroxide and is dabbed onto the bumps twice a day. They can be treated medically by cryotherapy (freezing) or with creams that boost local immunity or suppress the virus. Topical treatments are available for use at home, both on prescription and to buy from pharmacies. Molludab ® (5% potassium hydroxide), a topical treatment licensed for use from the age of two years. It is used BD until the lesions become inflamed, which often takes around five days, at which stage the treatment can be stopped. If there is no inflammation by day 14 the treatment should be stopped

What is the outlook for molluscum contagiosum?

Molluscum contagiosum thrives under warm and damp conditions, so keep the skin clean and dry. Try and avoid sharing the affected person's towels, clothing, facecloths, bed linen and toys to avoid spreading the condition. Using topical creams or ointments: Topical creams and ointments speed up your recovery time and reduce symptoms. Topical medicine could include podophyllum, potassium hydroxide, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide and tretinoin. Most papules are 2-5 mm in size. Cantharidin is the only FDA approved treatment of molluscum. Imiquimod has not been proven effective for the treatment of molluscum contagiosum in children and is not recommended for children due to possible adverse events.
