About this deal

Granted in 1942, the patent emphasizes many of the clever design features of the multipurpose handle which also secures the blade. This is the only razor blade plane I have that has the patent number stamped on the plane body, and it is the most innovative design. The patent application later notes that the blades are similar to the blades used in safety razors, but slightly different. In the instructions provided with the plane, however, ordinary double edge razor blades are recommended. The tightening knob evidently underwent some refinements during production, and has a much more elegant, almost horn like shape which is easier to align and tighten than the wing nut on all other planes. Since the body of these planes are essentially in two pieces, some users feel they are not as rigid as one piece models, though this does not seem to be an issue when using them on leather. The patent application describes this as a woodworking tool, which is perhaps its most ill suited use. A good aftershave will help to protect your skin, and soothe and regenerate it after shaving. This is especially important when you’re travelling, as changes in temperature, air moisture levels and sunlight exposure can all take their toll on your skin.

This post contains observations about these planes. American, German, Dutch and English versions are represented. Next week, in part two, guest blogger Eric Alstrom, Head of Conservation at Michigan State University, will present some tips for using razor planers on bookbinding leather. German? This tentatively identified plane is perhaps the most elegant and ergonomic in form, to my eye. It functions as a flat and chisel plane. It looks quite comfortable to grasp, and the blade is accessible from three sides for adjustment. Practice is needed - The plane is a little different in the hand than a normal razor. For the first two attempts, you should therefore take your time so as not to cut yourself. You’ve got to smell nice and keep your hair shiny, so it’s not surprise that many people ask about shampoo and deodorant. I then try to collect any little tubs or containers like tiny pots for moisturisers and test sized pots for creams.Liquids over 100ml are generally unauthorised in the cabin, but there are some exceptions, notably if you’re travelling with babies or small children. Food items Item There might be restrictions on specialist equipment, for example professional video cameras. Make sure your devices are charged Step 1: Prepare your skin. Before you start shaving, make sure your skin is clean and moist. Use warm water and a mild cleanser to cleanse your skin and cleanse your Pores to open. Generally, medicines and pills are among the items you can take on a plane in your hand luggage, including syrups and medicines in liquid form as long as they do not make more than 100ml. If you need more, you must notify your airline in advance. For oxygen or air for medical use, this will depend on your airline. easyJet permits it so long as the weight of the bottle does not exceed 5kg. Ryanair also allows different types of respiratory equipment (masks, respirators ventilators continuous positive airway pressure or CPAP) so long as they comply with cabin baggage dimensions. Medicine Item Blades for all models - you can use all razor blades of any brand on your plane. You are not bound to a particular manufacturer.

Finally less plastic waste you think and consider getting a razor plane? Then this post is for you! I tell you here from my razor experience and tell you what a plane is really good.

Can you take tweezers on a plane?

I know, it makes no sense that you can’t take a 500ml bottle of shampoo but you can decant it into 5x 100ml bottles! But that’s an argument for another time! Lithium metal batteries (a.k.a.: non-rechargeable lithium, primary lithium). These batteries are often used with cameras and other small personal electronics. Consumer-sized batteries (up to 2 grams of lithium per battery) may be carried. This includes all the typical non-rechargeable batteries for personal film cameras and digital cameras (AA, AAA, 123, CR123A, CR1, CR2, CRV3, CR22, 2CR5, etc.) as well as the flat round lithium button cells.

Use shaving gel or shaving foam and never shave dry. It does not work quite so well the first time because I cut myself superficially. But that happens to me with the normal razor also often. Therefore I take a Shaving gel with tea tree oil. This disinfects already during application and also during shaving.

What’s the best electric razor to take in your hand luggage?

These are the new-age battery-operated razors that come with small blades fixed to its head that can only be operated by turning on the device.

Thorough shave - The blades are very sharp, so you only need to run very gently over the skin and are guaranteed to catch every little hair. Step 3: Hold the razor correctly. Grasp the razor by the handle and place your fingers around the body of the razor. Make sure the plane is secure and firm in your hand. I recommend getting refillable, squeezable 100ml silicone bottles to decant your toiletries into. Silicone ones won’t split like brittle plastic ones do and you can roll them down to squeeze every last drop out. Suitable for all body parts - with a little practice you can shave everywhere - even in the genital area. A razor plane is suitable for both women and men. And also for all who have sensitive and delicate skin.

What other items aren’t allowed in cabin luggage? Can you take camping gear on board? How about tinned fish? I hope my razor experience has answered your questions. All I can say is that it's really worth it. If you're not so brave, then on the legs. But the result is much smoother than with a conventional razor. The blades are sharp longer - for whatever reason. And you do the environment and your wallet a favor.
