About this deal

Find out where it all began for Pip in this prequel to the best-selling A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Good Girl, Bad Blood and As Good As Dead. Previously published in 2021 as a World Book Day title. This was sm fun!! 🤩🤩 I wasn't expecting too much bc it's super short, but it was waay better than I expected!! Just super fun and entertaining 💗💗 Killjoy (not a great title and it's hard to see where this comes from in terms of the book) is the fourth in the series and, to my mind, the best to date. The story is set around the a small provincial theatre company, which has as its head ex-TV star Gus Lynch. The leading (young) lady goes missing and turns up dead in the boot of Lynch's car. There are a nice group of characters, which includes the leading man (heartthrob to all), Lynch's deputy (and ex-flame of Ramsey's) and her daughter, a CID officer (father of the leading man) and his neurotic wife, the key trustee of the theatre and her husband and the theatre caretaker being the main players who all (of course) seem to have reason to kill her and various skeletons in their respective cupboards. Throw in Ramsey and his sergeant, Hunter, and there is a nice mix for a very enjoyable little novel.

Their plates were empty all apart from Pip’s because there had been too much thinking to do to concentrate on eating.” Kill Joy is a novella that takes place before the Good Girl's Guide to Murder series and follows Pip going to a murder mystery party with her friends. It also shows how she initially decided to investigate Andie Bell's murder (despite it being a closed case), which was the plot of Book 1. Pippa Fitz-Amobi is not in the mood for her friend’s murder mystery party. Especially one that involves 1920’s fancy dress and pretending that their town, Little Kilton, is an island called Joy. But when the game begins, Pip finds herself drawn into the make-believe world of intrigue, deception and murder.Ooohmgee…I am so throwing my own murder mystery party. I don’t know how, where or when. But. I will make it happen!!! Avery’s workaholic aunt, Carolyn Salvetti, is certain her (hopefully soon-to-be ex) husband sent her the gold embossed reservation to the posh Utopia Spa in the mountains of Colorado. At first she is resistant, but then figures it will be a welcome respite from the cutthroat advertising business, not to mention a networking extravaganza. Plus she persuades her niece to join her for the two weeks of luxury and decadence.

i loved the side characters within this book. they made the game fun and the funny scenes between some of the characters made the book better for me. i’m not exactly the biggest fan of pip yet, but i do hope that will change once i read the series. not to mention pip missed the point of the game, which was to have fun, and it felt as though she didn’t want to interact with any of them despite being their friend. she was quiet pretty much the entire game but i liked how the banter between her friends remained. Esas oğlan eski bir ajan olan John Paul seni ilk başta asla ama asla sevesim gelmedi. Çünkü Avery'i ilk gördüğün an aklında beliren o sığ düşüncelerden iğrendim resmen. Ama sonra sonra kendini sevdirdin. Avery kız sen o psikolojik sorunlarla dolu aileden nasıl sağlam dik duruşlu kendine güvenli çıktın hayret yani. As this is a prequel to the whole series, you can read it even if you haven’t started it. You can also try reading it after finishing the first book in the series, as it answers some of the unanswered questions in the first book. Thoughtful and thought-provoking, this book is filled with great insights. We should thank Sara Ahmed not for killing joy, but for spreading it Azar Nafisi, author of READING LOLITA IN TEHRANCombines her signature humor—bitingly funny, in this case—with accessible language and theoretical discourse, making this title as appropriate for university courses as it is for self-identified "feminist killjoys," people who point out sexist comments or don’t laugh at offensive jokes… This book arms readers with a sense of vital energy, often lost due to burnout, compassion fatigue, and microaggressions. Audiences curious about navigating the intersection between feminism and daily life, intellectualism, poetry, and activism will love this title Emily Bowles, Library Journal

Throughout this entire book, I found myself laughing hysterically. Tears and all. 🥹🥹🥹. Just the disorganization of the party and how awful Pip, Cara, Conner, Zach, Lauren, Anthony, and Jamie were at playing their characters was both cute and hilarious. I also found myself gaining a much better understanding of Pip and her overall ability to solve murder cases. i feel like the book played too much into the role of celia and while some ppl might like that, all i read abt was constant criticizing and how pip wouldn't do things her character did or working out the details of celia's life to prove she wasn’t the killer. she got too eager when she played the game and it was to the point where she forgot abt the other ppl and stopped seeing them as her friends. pip gave off introverted vibes which i usually don’t mind in a book, but in a group setting differs when u choose to be isolated. this might be a personal irk thing for me tho Also, as an aside, is this sort of murder mystery game a real thing? Because I need it in my life pronto. Hilarious, brilliantly warm and moving, Killjoy is a story of everyday people doing extraordinary things, the power of a grassroots campaign and ultimately what you can achieve when you shout a little bit louder. Side note: I also listened to the audiobook and that was great too!! 🎧💖 Would recommend that format- it was a really fun story to just pop on when I also wanted to do something else at the same time 🥰🥰Sara Ahmed's work has long been the touchstone for feminist scholars like me, so I am delighted that she has brought together her most powerful ideas from nearly a quarter century of publishing to the non-academic reader. The Feminist Killjoy Handbook is exactly what we need: a cogent, powerful, practical guide to understanding our world and changing it for the better with our every interaction, and every day. This is the book I shall be pressing into the hands of every woman I care about for years to come. An absolute must read! Professor Sunny Singh When her now successful aunt Carrie, who is struggling with a bad marriage to Tony invites her on a retreat- she finally agrees- only to find out that her aunt has been kidnapped by a "familiar looking" woman and a man named "Monk"- and soon with the help of secret agent John Paul, realizes that the conspiracy runs deeper and her aunt might be the target of a serial killer. In this third book of the Buchanan-Renard series, we have John Paul Renard, Noah Clayborne and Monk returning from the earlier book, Mercy. The handbook is now out in the UK with Allen Unwin ( https://www.penguin.co.uk/authors/295665/sara-ahmed) and in the US with Seal Press ( https://www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/sara-ahmed/the-feminist-killjoy-handbook/9781541603752/?lens=seal-press). Ramsey is so good. I just want to hug him. He still is reeling a bit from his divorce from a few years earlier, but thinks about moving on. When an old love comes center in this new murder mystery he wants to make a move, but past history on his cases has him cautious about trusting anyone.
