Goodness, where to begin? This series vastly outperformed even my wildest expectations and this final installment couldn't have been more perfectly written. 2021 has been a wonderful year full of unforgettable books and The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone Series is hands down my favorite of the year. Days, weeks and months were counted down until the next hit...erm, installment. Countless conversations had amongst fellow fans, speculating just how the author would wrap up Rembrandt's adventures in this last book. Although this book is reminiscent of others currently on the market, the writing style makes it an altogether refreshing change. There is a developing story which made me warm to the main characters immediately and with their connection came a special story which underpinned the essence of the book.

Def a must read if you are FSOG fan! loving the concept of steamy hot romance of a Dom and submissive!! an unerring focus on what makes two people come to love each other - the way the book draws out the relationship between Henry and Theophilus is excruciatingly beautifulHoly Hot DAYUUMMM!! I just met my new dominant!! This book had it all!! An awesome hero and our dom Alex Stone and strong willed heroine Krystinna Cole. I crave this book everyday to get my hands on Mr Stone!! The writer didn’t put mundane dialogue or drama. She kept the storyline focused around Alexander and Krystina. I liked that she wrote the story to where it was written like a believable story. I liked that the writer did her research on the subplot to the story. Having did the research, helped me as the reader relate to the characters and understanding the situations that they where placed in. I give this book five stars of awesomeness. Wow! Talk about a powerful erotic drama, this book is it. I like the smooth pace. The writer maintained an easy storyline of unrequited love. Romance. Hot and steamy sex scenes. Intense conversations and heart wrenching decisions. The writer was able to hold my attention from beginning to end. I like that she kept elevating the drama higher in each chapter of the book.

Man, I wish more romance novels was written like this one. This book is the epitome of slow burn romance and while I could wish for a slightly earlier resolution (more on that later), I still gotta say I loved the slow burn. For all its supernatural and period trappings, this was at its heart (hah) a novel really about two people trying to fall in love from a great distance, and how they overcame each hurdle along the way. Heart of Stone continues its rollercoaster ride for readers across time, suspense, action, and even love. You won't want to miss this conclusion to "The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone" series. I'd love to tell you more...but I don't want to spoil your ride. Get a copy of Heart of Stone. You'll be so glad you did. This is an excellent example of a queer story written well in part because it's by a queer author. It's easy for a cishet author to try to queer a traditional romance story by taking classic beats like a meet-cute and a third-act breakup and making them between people who are not cishet -- taking the old thing and giving it a new paint job. But the beats of a queer romance may be quite different, especially in a historical setting. There's a subtle process of not only finding out whether the other party is queer, but also finding out whether they even know that queer is an option. I have read some lovely gay romances by straight writers, but there's a fundamental truth to stories written by people who inhabit the experiences they are writing that is nigh-upon impossible to duplicate from the outside. And so the story goes, following Henry and Theophilus as they develop a close working relationship that turns into a friendship, colored on both sides by mutual, but unspoken - indeed, repressed and denied - attraction and, eventually, love. Secrets are exchanged: Henry confides that he is a vampire, Theophilus that he is attracted to men (notably, Henry does not share that they have this in common; he fears that this will be interpreted as undue pressure from an employer to an employee). Meanwhile, Theophilus is being epistolarily wooed by Bartholomew Dufresne, a rather verbose rake who he met at Henry's birthday party; while Theophilus has no strong feelings for Dufresne, he is enticed by the opportunity to act on his attraction to men, convinced as he is that his feelings for Henry are one-sided. The story itself was good so it could’ve worked perfectly without the racism. I just don’t understand why this author felt the need to destroy his work. Overall, I would not recommend reading this book.Okay, you guys, this is actually such a hard review to write without giving spoilers! So all I’m going to say is… this book was just as much of a rollercoaster as the rest of the series!! And when you got to the end… the rollercoaster ride was one hundred percent worth it!! This was the absolute perfect ending to the series & if you want to know more, you’re just going to have to read it for yourself!! Development began in December 2020, when Gadot signed on to star. Harper and Netflix were confirmed to serve as director and distributor respectively the following month, with the rest of the cast being confirmed in early 2022. Filming took place in Europe from January to July of that year. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” But the shadows of my past haunted me, making me afraid to explore the possibilities I could never before have imagined.

I really enjoyed this story. The characters are each holding secrets that prevent them from looking for a full committed relationship. However, once Alex and Krystina begin their arrangement the chemistry between them is too much to ignore and they begin to sink into a deeper intimacy.

Watch Gal Gadot, Jamie Dornan and Alia Bhatt surprise fans at the Tudum: Global Fan Event in Brazil:

Author Dakota Willink bravely takes on the world of BDSM in Heart of Stone, her début novel. As Krystina knows nothing of this world, Willink uses Krystina’s introduction to the Dom/sub relationship as a primer for readers new to the BDSM lifestyle. She doesn’t do a bad job, familiarizing readers with both the physical and emotional aspects of it. But, just like with Anastasia in Fifty Shades of Grey, Krystina is not a true sub…and the similarities to FSoG don’t end there.

I do not want to give too much, hence, I would get into Spoiler territory. I cannot wait to read the second and third installment of this novel. Dakota Willink I feel has a promising career in writing. First impression is lasting impression and the novel and her writing did just that. Congrats Dakota Willink. Awesome read!!! Can't wait for the next book. In an author's note, Evans clarifies that Henry is written with ADHD and Theophilus with autism. I should state here that I have neither firsthand nor caregiving experience with either ADHD or autism, so I can't speak to the rep from those perspectives. But I can say that I loved both Henry and Theophilus as characters, and the interaction and deepening emotional intimacy between them. Henry sees Theophilus first as a puzzle: a stoic, deeply serious young man who works exceptionally well, answers all questions posed to him, but speaks little and, in particular, can never be drawn to give an opinion or state a preference: Warren pens a tightly written suspense novel that engages the reader from the beginning and holds their interest until its conclusion. This is the last novel with Rembrandt and while the reader will miss him, they will be satisfied with its ending. Heart of Stone is filled with hope, suspense, action, faith, and plenty of twists! The plot twists will keep the reader on the edge of their seat, especially in the final chapters. This book should have been everything I ever wanted. 18th century gentle, slow burn gay romance involving a vampire and his secretary, with autism and ADHD rep, it seemed as if it could hardly be more up my alley if it tried. And it’s always a bitter disappointment when a book that seems perfect for you…isn’t. That, I believe, is the heart of man. Not declarations, not speeches, no, but the softest word spoken in the softest whisper, to one’s companion after a night of revelry has dwindled down to the tender dawn that follows it.Henry Coffey, a vampire, hires a young man called Theophilius Essex as his secretary. Theophilius is quiet, dilligent, and proper almost to a fault, while Henry is friendly, never shuts up, and is intent on trying to coax Theophilius into expressing any sort of opinion. Over the course of the book, we slowly watch their relationship develop and Theo open up a little as he starts to trust Henry.Zacharek, Stephanie (August 11, 2023). "Netflix's Heart of Stone Is a Mission: Impossible Wannabe That Mostly Misses". Time. Archived from the original on August 14, 2023 . Retrieved August 14, 2023. In Heart of Stone, Rembrandt Stone settles his final cold case. Each time he travels in time to solve a cold case, he affects his current reality, often in ways he doesn’t want -- ways that impact those closest to him. Will he be able to solve the case, and restore his life to the reality he longs for? I loved the autistic rep especially because well, I'm autistic, and Theophilus Essex is definitely my favourite character of the book (special mention to Ambrose the chaotic trans bastard child, I loved him too). Theophilus' character arc was just immaculate tbh, his dealing with internalized homopphobia, and deciding to open up to Henry, and the whole I'm-not-so-secretely-drawing-monster-porn-of-my-employer thing was also extremely fun to me lol. He's just such a good character, and I loved how he didn't fall into the innocent naive autistic character even if you could somewhat read him that way at the beginning. He's just!!! Good!!! The Heart is what’s called a general AI — an AI that can do anything you want it to do, and it becomes a master of that immediately,” VFX supervisor Mark Breakspear told Netflix. “No one has built a general AI yet. And it’s connected to a quantum computer, which processes way faster than an ordinary computer. The Heart is tasked with monitoring all human data, analyzing it, looking for patterns and then using those patterns to make predictions. The Charter uses the Heart to look at a given situation and help their operatives plan what to do.” This is a lovely, heartfelt book full of pining and feels and the slowest of slow burns. It is also the least vampire-y vampire book I've ever read.
