About this deal

No, this is not another magazine dedicated to portable toilets as the title suggests, rather it is a magazine for very specific fishermen. The crappie is a North American genus of freshwater sunfish and they look utterly delicious. One popular method for catching these delectable little beasties is called ‘spider rigging’—this fishing method employs multiple rods arcing over the water (if you imagine looking down at the multiple rods with the boat at their centre, it’d look like a spider, see?) How do I know this? Thanks, Crappie Now! We also take a keep dive into Alessandra Maria’s work, where the figures depicted are portrayed with very soft features. Paying homage to Renaissance drawings, Alessandra uses her chosen medium’s advantage, shading lightly enough for facial features to emerge but not dark enough to fall into the shadowy depths of the charcoal’s true nature.

Next we are welcomed to look through the creative lens of Anna Karvounari. She is her own Venus, her own artistic subject. Her photographs are self-portraits and explorations of femininity that oscillates between pain, sorrow, joy, melancholy and euphoria. A woman represented by and for herself, in all her complexity. is our 10 th year in business – time sure does fly when you’re having fun! I still have to pinch myself sometimes, when I consider how very fortunate I am to be working every day immersed in my passion. To be surrounded by an amazing, dedicated team, and so many inspiring creatives on a day to day basis is both a blessing and a joy, and for which I am deeply grateful. Danijela Krha Purssey I have always been interested in the way humanity chooses to portray feminine divinity across cultures. There are many converging threads historically, primarily around the idea of the woman as maiden, mother, or crone [which are] categories structured primarily by [women’s] utility to men and reproduction. Alessandra Maria Finally, the Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize has a Yasha Young Sculpture Award Category, which Art Dolls can be entered into, to ensure all the amazing emerging and leading Art Doll sculptors around the world get the recognition they deserve – entries for this year’s Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize, in all Award categories are now open! We’ve been making fun of a lot of the entries thus far (no offence meant to all you emu farmers and elevator engineers out there by the way), but that’s simply not going to fly with this venerable, thought provoking magazine. This is the type of mag we need to counter the prevailing culture obsessed with cancelations, moral purity tests and an insistence on self-immolating ideologies. Given that so many publications today have become overly politicised and preachy, as well as living on borrowed time in the wake of internet media, you’d be forgiven for thinking that nobody in their right mind buys magazines anymore. Despite this slow death, some super niche mags are still doing it the old fashioned way—providing the reader with stuff they want to read about… if you really like potatoes or corpses, that is. So without further ado, it is with great pleasure and much pride that we share with you the Grand Prize Winner of the 2022 Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize, the Honourable Mentions, and the Winner of the ArtStation People’s Choice Award.
