About this deal

I know his ethos, banter and growth stories because of Instagram, I’ve been in the JSA, I’ve listened to his podcasts (pre the most recent lads in Aus podcast series) and I’ve seen the value James can bring to people and I’ve personally drawn a lot of value from him. Let me start by saying I've followed JS for years, love his fitness content, loved his first book and love his general approach to health and fitness advice. I understand that some books are not for everyone and you may have stopped reading it because it's just simply not helpful or it's not your cup of tea. With the utmost respect, to even see the people who reviewed this take it literally and stop reading his book because of it made me feel like they may have missed the point. He doesn’t narrate it that well, bit stilted but I do like him and imagine he’s bringing some of these concepts to a new audience.

To give a James Smith like analogy, this book is like me reading his 'not a diet' book then writing a diet book myself as though I know what I'm on about. No you might not be able to just up and leave country at this given moment, but if you so desperately want to you can plan to make that happen. Giving it a very generous 2/5 stars here when really it only deserves a one, subjectively speaking of course, objectively I would say this book is good for those who aren't self-aware enough to understand themselves and their own values. As for the target audience, through reading the book I percieved it to be aimed towards young adult men in their early 20ies.

He doesn't blow smoke up your arse and tell you what you want to hear and he doesn't feed you bullshit. I loved James first book and I follow the podcasts and Instagram so I was really looking forward to this book but very disappointed. Since cutting it out, I've been a little better and also tells you how even though things may be against you now, the "future you" will have your back because it would know how to deal with it so there are some great bits of information to take from reading this. this book is more like a condescending, smug, patronising life guide from a middle class boy who has made money from an early age.I’m sure I will dip in and out of it in the future for a bit of inspiration, as I do love James’s “why not? It’s rich telling people that being a millionaire isn’t all it’s cracked up to be when you are a millionaire. He’s not totally the same as all the other self made wizards who’ve cracked the trick to life, but he’s not really worth the hype I’m sorry to say. Someone who's doing exceptionally well in his career saying you don't need to be a millionaire to be happy and clearly not had to worry about paying the bills each month to survive we can't all drop everything and run off to new zealand! I purchased this title based on Jame’s Instagram content, which was mostly good humoured, punchy advice about wieght loss and approaches to life, these 1-4 min videos are entertaining yet informative, I have now learned through 6.
