About this deal

All told, Arrow Video’s new Battle Royale: Limited Edition is a spectacular box set for fans of this film. However, on Disc Four only, if you press the “Top Menu” button on your remote when you see the region message, you can access the disc’s main menu, from which you can watch the film and all the extras regardless of your player’s region setting. The first film gets a new audio commentary from film critics Tom Mes and Jasper Sharpe, who are able to offer a lot of insights that are unique to these kind of retrospective commentaries from film critics and historians. Overseeing the carnage is 'Beat' Takeshi Kitano (Sonatine, Hana-bi, Zatoichi) as the teacher pushed to the edge by his unruly charges.

The picture quality is pretty good and has scrubbed up well for a film of its age, especially considering that a lot of it was shot in the dark and the pouring rain, both of which create serious issues for cinematographers! I had the previous Arrow blu-ray box, and the picture and sound on the Theatrical version have been substantially upgraded. A sixth digipack isn’t actually a digipack, but a thin box which contains the Battle Royale Trump Cards. Some of the participants resist their mission and die horribly, while others take to it with a fiendish lack of inhibition, and former rebel Tatsuya Fujiwara (now a teen idol in Japan thanks to his appearance here) struggles to survive the onslaught with only a few trusted allies for comfort. The box is very strong hard card in a matte finish, with front cover art that features a "school lockers" motif and a rear which is devoted to describing the set.

Preciosa edición para coleccionar aunque si eres hispanohablante ten presente que no hay opciones de audio o subtítulos en castellano, pues es edición francesa. The first two discs of this set are given over to the original film, with a theatrical and director’s cut that have both received 4K transfers from the original film negatives, making these the sharpest quality versions of both films to date. They awaken in an abandoned school room on a deserted island, surrounded by armed soldiers and awaiting them at the head of the class is their old teacher Kitano, the lesson of the day, “kill each other”.com is an Introducer Appointed Representative of Pay4Later Limited, trading as Deko, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 728646). Thrown into the mix are two last minute exchange students, both with ulterior motives to be on the island.

If you love Battle Royale, Japanese cinema in general, or simply great 4K, this is a must-have import release. The other three sleeves contain the Blu-Ray discs and the fronts feature stylised artwork of Kiriyama (Theatrical Release), Kawada (Director's Cut), and Mitsuko (Additional Extras), along with their weapons of choice. Equipped with a random assortment of weapons, what plays out is a grisly and twisted Lord of the Flies-style fight for survival.org, one of the premier destinations on the web to discuss DVD releases from The Criterion Collection, Masters of Cinema, and other DVD production companies from around the world. These are particularly interesting for the way that Kenta offers insights on his father’s personal history, his reaction to the original novel, and his thoughts on the overall subject of violence. The film is an adaptation of Koushun Takami’s 1999 novel of the same name, with the film’s screenplay written by Kenta Fukasaku, music composed by Masamichi Amano, and distributed by Toei Company.
