Players fight by assembling a dice pool based on their gear, any abilities, any monster abilities and some monster dice that represent counter attacks.

The road and the lands beyond are defended by stalwart warriors and roaming monsters, ready to lash out at one that they might capture in their claws. The 4 oversized roaming monster miniatures are creative too, as are the 2 supersized boss miniatures. The dice look great, and there’s enough variety in the dice that it makes it fun looking for weapons that fit your particular play-style. The mobs are fun, even if they feel a bit too zombie-horde-ish, and things get especially interesting in the 5 and 6-player games because not only are there a bunch of miniatures on the board, but the mob gets stronger with each additional miniature.Mobs are made up of a mob leader and mob minions, which are equal to however many players are playing. There is a scenario in which players have to fight the Archangel Michael, but it’s because he’s been in Hell for so long he fights everything he sees. Its rugged black, Ballistic Nylon exterior protects a hard plastic and wood interior built for strength and durability.

One of the more interesting aspects of this system is how many varied and viable ‘builds’ there are. inch (38 mm) thick tray with 24 x 2 1/2 x 1 1/2 inch (64 x 38 mm) cut outs, 6x 1 5/8 x 1 3/5 inch (41 x 41 mm) cut outs, and 6x 1 7/8 x 1 3/5 inch (47 x 41 mm) cut outs. Whenever a player kills a monster or finds a treasure, they draw from the bag and then take the appropriate level card of gear. They get laid out for quests that have quest cards in the mod, but I can't see where to get them from otherwise.This was a great throwback to computer RPG games and the addictive nature of trying to find all the set items. The box is massive, with three trays of different units, hundreds of cards, different skill boards, play dashboards, enemy cards, and different levels of weapons and skills.

The rules are less tactical than Imperial Assault, but it can still be a fun time tossing dice, playing with miniatures, and picking up some loot if you like that sort of thing. The original Massive Darkness is a dungeon crawler game, where you’ll be working cooperatively to jump between shadows and night, levelling up as you progress and offering different scenarios and ways to play. K. 720 also has a molle system, which allows you to further customize this bag to fit your specific storage and transportation needs.With 3 rarity levels, every time players come across a Treasure icon, they draw Treasure tokens from the Treasure bag to determine the rarity of the items they find. Sure, Massive Darkness 2 provides a page of introductory text and a short paragraph before each scenario which sort of acts as a story, but it’s bare-bones, and the story rarely manifests in the gameplay, which leads to a hollow feeling when paired with the straightforward combat.
