The two currents, the old cask tradition and American-inspired craft beer, started coming back together. These items are usually delivered within 24 hours, but this can vary (anywhere up to 10 working days), and is unfortunately beyond our control.To this day, it continues to be their most popular beer, with Jaipur alone accounting for more than 65% of the total output for Thornbridge Brewery, who develop and distribute a huge array of craft beers around the world.

Although 6 hops are listed on the side of the really gorgeous can, they are more like bittering ones rather than aromatic (by feel anyway). It’s interesting because a lot of the time now, breweries are reactive to trends, whereas back then we had to set them. Thornbridge became an example of how to translate the American craft brewery model to Britain, and in the years since its founding, that model has exploded. He only lasted a year at Thornbridge before heading home to found BrewDog, where he promptly made an extremely Jaipur-esque beer you may have heard of: Punk IPA. We balance these with a great English malt base of Low Colour Maris Otter from Norfolk that helps keep the beer light and drinkable with enough sweetness to keep it all in harmony.The brewery made around 20,000 hectoliters (17,000 barrels) of Jaipur last year—more than 50% of its output—and has even started brand extensions, such as the coveted Double IPA version, Jaipur X.

Recognising that not only quality but consistency and innovation are key to creating amazing and beautifully balanced beer. The beer was like nothing Brits had tasted and while some thought it was too intense (and too American), others thought they saw the future of beer.

The early efforts were illustrative of the trend up to that point of British “craft” breweries that may have been new and small, but still made traditional styles. Packed full of American hops, Jaipur’s hoppiness builds in the mouth and bursts with powerful citrus fruit flavours with a remarkably smooth finish.
