For trainers and performance trainers, we take them on daily runs, workouts, recovery runs and a long run prior to review (often accumulating anywhere from 20-50 miles in the process). The shoe is a little stiff from the heel to midfoot, but the front of the shoe did flex with my toes and never felt like it was restricting movement. Or you can get the the Adidas Solarglide 5 for less – it's an excellent max cushioned daily trainer for style-conscious runners. It’s a daily training ride that is flexible, quite soft, and with a nice front Fuel Cell impulse leaning now slightly more towards slower paces and easy runs than prior versions.

This will reduce the risk of injury from slipping or rolling your ankle, as you will be held in a firm and upright position. The previous version, the New Balance Fresh Foam 880v11, already had the presence of the Fresh FoamX compound in its midsole ensuring a high level of reactivity. The upper is constructed of an engineered mesh that again fits in the middle of not too stretchy or too tight.It does offer mild stability through the heel thanks to the firm counter and heel flair, but this is a shoe best left for those individuals without major stability needs. It’s a good mix, and one that I will be shocked if it isn’t emulated by other companies in the near future. It is obvious that we are not in a line close to the New Balance Fresh Foam 1080 v12 with those more daring designs, and that this 880 v12 model is the one that shows a more classic and conservative tendency.

I understand that the hypoknit material is likely reserved to separate the 880 from the 1080 but there are many other features that separate the two and a hypoknit upper would make the 880 that much more comfortable.

I had mine for a little over 3 months, and I noticed that the sole have worn out much quicker compared to my other walking/running shoes. Undoubtedly, and to achieve all these sensations, the update of that dual-layer midsole has a lot to say. The Fresh Foam X 880v12 represents a new generation set-up of the silhouette’s workhorse reliability with the smooth transitions of a reimagined dual-layer midsole. Sally: The Rebel V2 earned my favorite daily trainer award last year, but it is more of a fun fast tempo shoe and the 880 v12 is more of a solid daily trainer. Softer, a touch less responsive than the 880 it is less stable but more stable than some prior Clifton. I'll give you the reasons why you need to put these Fresh Foam 880 v12 among your favorite models for running. The shoe was incredibly comfortable right out of the box, seemingly true to size while very ample in the forefoot, and strikingly beautiful in a classic way.These shoes have the best rebound of all the On running shoes thanks to the added CloudTec midsole and the springy Speedboard. It might sound like I didn't enjoy running in the Fresh Foam X 880v12, but that couldn't be further from the truth. The front Fuel Cell is a touch “firmer” in feel and as it is denser but of the same firmness as the Fresh Foam. I have around 40 miles on my pair, and they do have a small amount of wear of the posterolateral aspect of the heel (where I land). The posterior aspect of the shoe offers a slight heel flair in both the medial and lateral directions helping to provide security to the heel.
