All of this rounds off the last model’s change to Brooks’ GuideRails® Holistic Support System, which has been smoothed into a single piece for the 20. The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 20 has largely held the line from the previous version with a few tweaks that improved the ride enough to pick up our Top Pick for Comfort Award. The Adrenaline GTS 20’s sole unit has undergone slight changes from the 19’s overhaul to retain the soft DNA LOFT crash pad in the mid-to-lateral heel, which now tapers forward to gradually transition into the familiar BioMoGo DNA foam supporting the rest of the shoe. The midsole is made of two fluffy materials with slightly different densities and performance profiles.

Brooks brings back the Achilles dip design from the Adrenaline 14 versus the single lining collar from the GTS 17-19. This shoe can do just about anything but is ideal for me on long runs and marathon/half marathon training. The midsole, sockliner, GuideRail® system, and redesigned upper work together to cups the heel like a warm blanket (it feels like the midsole itself dips and surrounds the heel) which smoothly transitions into a springy toe off.

A neutral shoe makes up roughly 80% of available running shoes and have the same level of cushioning in the heel and the forefoot making it suitable for a large section of runners. It is advisable to pop to your local running specialist and try on a few different brands, on the treadmill if possible, to get a feel for the shoes. The New Balance Fresh Foam Vongo V4 and Mizuno Inspire 15 also delivers a supportive ride without a medial post. First slipping on Adrenaline 20 revealed a semi-plush upper reminiscent of Transcend 6 (especially the heel collar) with a notably more firm midsole from its cushioned cousin.Wide feet, try a half-size up from your regular running shoe, or see if the StealthFit option allows enough stretch.

Stabilizing the foot with GuideRails, you can count on the Adrenaline GTS 20 to provide you with much more comfortable and pain free runs. The BioMoGo DNA and DNA LOFT cushioning give just enough softness under your foot but remain durable. The Glycerin GTS 20 has advanced with the times from a heavier Transcend that was more plush and had a more durable outsole. The arrival on the market of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 20, one of Brooks Running 's flagships, has aroused great interest, and no wonder!

From a cushioning point of view, the GTS rides like the Ghost 12 – except for the cupped support near the top of the midsole. Full-length, responsive BioMoGo DNA cushioning provides a touch of spring underfoot while in the heel ensures super soft landings.

The fastest bobsleds are the ones that best slip down the grooves worn into the track with minimal lateral movement and chaotic noise. The Brooks Glycerin GTS 20 bridges the gap between distance and speed shoes for runners who need cushioned stability but do not want to sacrifice a quick turn-over. I did break a cardinal rule and even bought a brand new pair the day before my target marathon performance (having run in this same shoe training the past few months), and it was perfect.For whatever it is worth, models like the Glycerin 17 and Transcend give a higher level of high-mileage comfort. Overpronation in the arch can affect the whole body and cause discomfort in the heel, ankles, achilles tendons, shins, outside knee, outer hip, as well as the arches. Just understand that if you're looking to get into the Adrenaline GTS 20 or any big comfort model, you might get some foam compression over time. I’m still waiting to try these out for an even faster workout on the track to really test this technology! Although, there’s a lower chance of that happening on the 20 as it swaps the flat laces with soft round ones.
