About this deal

Whilst Lie’s doesn’t really bring anything new to the psychological thriller genre, merely concentrating on how much social media and technology have the potential to impact a person's life, it does add another perspective to things and has made me consider how much technology has impinged upon all our lives. Has Joe just caught his wife in an affair with Ben, one of the wealthiest, successful business men he knows?

The book has already been praised as “riveting” (Megan Miranda) and “bingeworthy” (Caroline Kepnes), and it’s sure to be one of fall’s must-read crime novels. His life was turned upside down because of lies his wife was telling him and lies that someone else was spreading about him. The Holiday was a Richard and Judy Book Club pick and was adapted into a four-part TV drama, as was The Catch . It is nicely paced, well balanced and a damned good thriller with some clever wee twists that caught me out. BLOOD SISTERS will be published in September, but thanks to Vanessa and her publisher, we’re able to get an exclusive early glimpse into the book right here in today’s blog post! What I did not expect was this well-crafted intriguing plot comprising of twists and turns that will not stop me from finishing it at one go. Who wouldn't when electing to enter an occupation known for miserably low pay and a notoriously high workload.

M. Logan has dropped a few hints along the way his conclusion might have all felt a little more plausible. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to visit Iceland, or if you’re curious about attending a crime fiction festival in the future, I highly recommend adding Iceland Noir to your bucket list. but it did truly make you think about social media and how much that has altered today society and our perceptions. Would a dynamic businessman with his own highly profitable company really go off the radar as it appears that Ben has? You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.

As Joe confronts Ben, an angry scuffle ensues and results in an unconscious Ben sprawled on the concrete floor and unresponsive.

I enjoyed the adorable child in this book who had a ‘part’ in LIFE WAS NEVER THE SAME AGAIN for his family when one night the child spotted “mummy’s car”. It has since won a Nielsen Bestseller Award and been made into a four-part TV drama with Jill Halfpenny.Playful and irreverent, spine-tingling and spooky, The September House puts a fresh spin on the classic haunted house story, delivering an immersive tale about the secrets lurking within one building’s walls, and within the lives of its inhabitants. Although this starts by examining a likely scenario which is perfectly believable and the technology intricacies have been pinned down brilliantly to make most of the story potentially plausible, it all feels rather like trial by technology and social media and for me it did become a little repetitive. What starts as familiar psychological thriller territory with a split second decision results in unprecedented upheaval in the life of the Lynch family. Overall, this was fairly solid thriller but be prepared that you might get frustrated with the main character. His life explodes when he sees his wife with a long time friend and realizes that they might be having an affair.

M. Logan just doesn’t quite make the cut; frankly, it doesn’t hold up against the numerous, expertly-plotted psychological thrillers that have released this year alone. What if you have the perfect life, the perfect wife and the perfect child - and then, in one shattering moment, you discover nothing is as it seems? Fortunately, however, this is where the similarity between myself and our leading man Joe end — Because, in this novel, Joe has a pretty fucking shitty go of it. Though some issues with characters contained in the novel did hinder my enjoyment — slightly — readers looking for a clean and tidy thriller will likely find that this debut fits the bill. I really enjoyed it because Logan threw all this information at the reader that just served to complicate and confuse things.

I’m pretty sure I say this every year, but 2022 has truly been another outstanding year for crime fiction readers. There’s no better time to watch a slasher movie—or read a slasher book—than October, and if your idea of perfect Halloween entertainment involves villains like Michael Myers or Freddy Krueger, the book I’m recommending today is the Halloween read for you.
