About this deal

If Thom Hogan numbers on actual sales dollars are accepted it appears Ricoh is about the only camera company to generate more year on year sales revenue in past quarter.

We've been using a full production version of this 120 fps sports camera, to see what you gain (and, perhaps, lose). On my camera I’ve made sure that I can easily change aperture, dial in exposure compensation, go into macro mode, switch ISO settings, and switch JPG simulations. Ricoh perhaps aware of what’s happening and could partially rectify the issues as once Sony did with their alpha 7r and 7s : they started to include a second battery for free . Don't get me wrong there is lots of room for improvement with ergonomics even on the small body but controlling is not as bad as I thought it would be.You can change the exposure parameter*, shoot, reshoot, and finish shooting for each shot to easily create exactly the type of photo you have in mind. I’d get another RX1 but they seem to be getting rare, probably down to reliability, and much more expensive. One of the great things about a camera like this is the ability to use fill flash in sunny conditions because all shutter speeds are flash synced. Still, I would say it's autofocus performance is, unfortunately, more similar to the Sony from 2013, than it's mirrorless peers from the current era.

The GR III touchscreen interface works quite well, it's very responsive and complementing the dials-and-buttons interface nicely. I thought it was actually a wrist strap and my first inclination was not to ditch it and attach a strap from another camera.

Listening to others who've had this camera a lot longer than me, the main thing that needs to be improved is the dust issue. I’ve successfully handheld shots with a shutter up to 1 second on days I didn’t drink too much caffeine. Complementing the sensor design is an updated 28mm-equivalent prime lens, which features a bright f/2. To deliver high-contrast, high-resolution images of a variety of subjects and in varying photographic conditions, it also comes equipped with a macro shooting capability at a minimum focusing distance of six centimeters, and incorporates an ND (Neutral Density) filter to open up the aperture by two stops.

But this chunky yet competent backpack doesn't have a killer feature or look that makes it stand out from some pretty tough competition. When attached, the angle of view is changed to an approximate 90-degree view (21 mm equivalent focal length) for super wide-angle shots, enhanced perspectives and a wide angle of view.Yet the GR 3 fits much better in my hand, more quickly and easily controlled, better experience all around.
