So when Anker’s Eufy brand announced the Mach V1 Ultra cordless vacuum and steam mop—the first product released under its Mach sub-brand of premium smart cleaning appliances—I was eager to try it out. At this point I should add that, while the controls on the MACH’s interface are mostly self evident, I am still confused by the true purpose of the little lever on the handlebar which Eufy says is ‘to turn the floor cleaner on’. There are other stick vacuums available that mop and incorporate steam cleaning in addition to vacuuming. The vacuum, which only weighs about 12 and a half pounds, propels itself forward with a gentle nudge.

Once you’ve finished cleaning and have re-docked the vacuum, you start the self-cleaning process by pressing a button on top of the handle. Not all floor cleaners allow the use of anything but water, but in my experience, we could all use some extra oomph in the tank.I have dust allergies and my skin react strongly when I clean pretty much anything, so I have to minimize the interaction with the dirty cleaning devices.

JetBlade™ Anti-Slip - This feature emits air to dry the floor as it mops, minimizing the risk of slipping on hardwood floors. One of my favorite innovations is an anti-slip feature that expels air to dry the floor as the V1 Ultra mops. While I’m at the front, a quick high-five to the designers for fitting an attractive brush roller plate that’s magnetised for easy removal and refitting. It was tested on its ability to vacuum up dust, dried mud, long hair, sock fluff and the odd bit of guinea pig hay.Help, the dog’s brought in the contents of the pond again, the kids have painted the kitchen floor in crayon and gramps has just tripped over the baby and dropped his porridge. And speaking of rollers, this model is fitted with an extra thick 23cm towel roller that’s capable of pulling the unit along when on a hard floor. Since the vacuum cleaner is washing the roller brush as it’s cleaning, I didn’t have to worry about transferring messy debris from one side of the floor to the other.

My video is horrible I know but at least it puts out there a video that talks about it versus all the free ones that everyone got and posted online. If your only experience of cleaning floors is laboriously pushing and pulling a conventional vacuum and stick mop, the way the V1 Ultra effortlessly glides across the floor will likely be a mind-blowing experience. It has an impressive run time (up to 82 minutes) compared to other cordless vacuums and a handy app lets you know when your vac/mop is in need of some maintenance so you can keep it in tip-top shape and performing at its very best. Keeping your floors clean is a lot more than just sweeping or vacuuming up the dust and dirt that you see, it is really easy to just get the dust and dirt and ignore things until something is spilled.

For some reason, the JetBlade doesn’t operate by default so you’ll need to tap the brush clean button three times to activate it. I really wanted to see how the Mach V1 Ultra would perform on hard floors—and it did not disappoint. Add in the Self-Cleaning function available through the eufy Clean app, and it's an excellent cleaning solution for the time-poor.
