If you are someone who cares about audio quality deeply, you'll want a pair of earphones/IEMs like these. emphasis that really stuck out when coming from my full sized headphones, even those with a 3k bump like my modded HD580. I suspect this is because the wax that was originally stuck deep in my ear has been pushed aside or dragged out; or perhaps it’s simply because I’ve gotten used to it. The BA driver is significantly faster and there is a certain effortlessness in the 4XR model that makes everything sound sublime. Environmentalists will appreciate how easy it is to replace the cable and ear tips once they’re worn out.

The CKN50 + test nest should allow all of us to get a near-perfect match on insertion depth for this particular headphone. A Flat sound signature offers an accurate presentation of sounds without adding colour to your music. In short, the ER2SE is voiced much like a high quality, high accuracy and decidedly full range loudspeaker, while the ER2XR is voiced much like that same loudspeaker, but with the bass dialled up to about ‘11. The ER2SEs play in a (slightly) narrower stage, and yet have similar or even more breathing space between the details. I’ve been very impressed with the ER2SE – in fact, I own a pair myself, and you can read my review of them here.The acoustic resonance and horn effects of the ear change a flat audio signal entering the open ear into sound with a (2700 Hz) high-frequency boost, which is the same response heard at the eardrum in a typical ear. The eXtended Response ER2XR has an emphasised bass, adding 1-2dB to the mid-bass and 3-4dB to the sub-bass. Please note that the following impressions are based on using them with the Shure eartips with insertion of a normal depth – somewhere between deep and shallow. Earfonia's CKN50 + test nest are now with Oratory1990 (the rest of the tour kit is on its way to Oratory from Crinacle). Imaging would follow the same ranking as soundstage, with the exception that the Ety would be similar to the Blessing 2 in quality of the imaging.

It has better value than the ER3SE because it sounds 90% the same, without the BA timbre due to it using a speedy, dynamic driver.ER2SE is also the IEM of choice for consumers who prefer to listen to their music exactly the way it was recorded. I wish I could be okay with the fit, but even with the deep insertion I think they might be worth to pick up for me, and just get used to the insertion. This would lead to headaches from this suction seal and would result in pain and discomfort within 20 minutes of using.
