The quick-dry webbing is made from recycled plastic using traceable, verifiable REPREVE polyester yarn by Unifi. Our testers agree that it's a capable multi-sport sandal that feels more comfortable in and out of the water than its predecessor. The Teva XLT2 Hurricane Sandals are perfect for day and light hiking adventures, crafted with a new modern sole with rugged rubber construction that provides fantastic traction, while a lightweight EVA foam midsole adds extra cushioning for all day comfort. During my time testing the Hurricane XLT 2, I realized it was a winner during the the Grand Mesa National Forest trip.

The Hurricane XLT2 vegan Sandal from Teva has taken their iconic Hurricane XLT and given it a fresh comfort upgrade. Review Policy: We do not accept payments or gifts from brands and vendors, and strive to provide unbiased, independent advice. A one year warranty is fairly standard for shoes, and even a luxury for sandals, so we are happy with this. With all footwear, I really need to crank down the tension system, whether it’s laces, straps, BOA, etc. The Hurricane collection combines EVA-foam midsoles with rugged Durabrasion Rubber outsoles for enhanced traction in aqueous endeavors, though they're just as nimble on land.

If you like how Tevas fit but can't compromise on traction, we recommend taking a look at the Chaco Z/1 Classic. What's more is the added neoprene cushion in the heel strap which we find helpful in alleviating chafe when wet and aiding in security during climbs.

I used my previous Hurricane XLTs in a similar fashion but found that traction when wet was greatly impaired and the sandal itself felt like walking on a wet washcloth. With water-friendly features like quick-drying webbing and closed cell foam, it seems an obvious choice for watersports enthusiasts. Bridging the gap between stylish and functional, the Hurricane has a semi-sporty tread that is by no means aggressive but can maintain a respectable grip on loose or moderately-technical trails. Anyone who likes to do a lot of exploring on holiday knows that a bog-standard pair of flip flops or sandals won’t cut it – your feet just won’t thank you.

They look decent for any occasion and my wife doesn’t give me glaring looks when I use them with my fancy wool socks. The other straps could use a touch more padding and softer feel, but overall didn’t cause any issues (and I think they need more padding only because the heel has it! I actually own a (now-defunct) pair of the original Hurricane XLTs, and was stoked to try see what kind of updates the line received. I had a few moments of hesitation around camp while downclimbing some boulders to find the perfect spot for lunch, but traction was excellent and the three-point strap system kept me secure. And the neoprene heel cushion is yet again appreciated for its enhanced grip to lock in your heel—especially in the water.

There are tons of style variations, foot retention mechanisms, tread patterns, and overall uses — and these sandals, or sandals on the whole, don’t always jive with people. See the full Teva Hurricane XLT 2 review below, and see where it ranks on our Best Hiking Sandals guide.
