Never used. out of box item. Originally listed for sale 5 months ago but had to end listing because item was misplaced in completely different box! Still in perfect condition, free of scrtach, marks, or dings. Flash sale! Limited time only! A box with the corresponding connections and a selector key would make the change between the two TTs. The biggest advantage of owning the S2 model is how easy it is to switch tubes. All you need to do is to unscrew the protective housing and just wiggle out the tubes, and that’s it.

When I started getting my gear my intention was to get the Rega Phono Preamp but couldn't find one, the best I could find was the Alva Solo which did not disappoint me. Would it make any sense to get the Rega? or do you think the Pro Ject would make more sense since tubes can sound different, or maybe even better since it costs way more than the Solo. Inductance is small, but we can't rule it out, based on how it interacts with resistors and different frequencies. that's why it's impedance, right? And then, it enters the debate of which load is better, that not all of us listen the same. We have to consider the physiological structure of our ears - no two are alike - the listening room, the speakers, among the factors to be evaluated. .

On the other hand, the S2 is more favorable in terms of tube-rolling and having a discrete circuit. What Is Pro-Ject Tube Box S2? It gets a bit upset at 20 Hz and rises a bit at highest frequencies. For the most sensitive part of our hearing (2 to 5 kHz), it is the lowest at -70 dB. Tube Box DS2 provides two sets of gold-plated RCA inputs and outputs. This offers connections to two turntables simultaneously or two selectable line outputs. It delivers low signals to high amplification which makes the music broad and astounding. There's also a subsonic filter, which helps to eliminate rumble and other troublesome deep frequencies.

The valves are replaceable. Replacement parts are available in online stores and in other audiovisual component stores.

Both come with two vacuum tubes of a common type ECC83 (12AX7). Those tubes are protected with housing in both preamps. The housing is pretty much similar on both preamps. As a phono preamplifier, Pro-Ject Tube Box S Preamp sure does what it should. That said, the capabilities are limited, unlike other luxury preamps that can do more due to higher specs and added pieces. You’ll get fantastic sound quality without having to deal with too many features and settings. On top of all that, it’s an option that doesn’t break the bank. The Moon looks good too (some complain of hiss sounds, though) and costs about the same as the Pro Ject and I wouldn't have to worry about tubes. Bass is better, with more punch and better decay on the notes. The sound stage is outstanding, you can close your eyes and easily visualize the position of each instrument as if they were right in front of you. The sound stage takes on a whole new dimension and invites deep listening. Vocals sound more natural, sibilants have improved and there is more detail on the higher frequencies without any audible harshness or distortion. In other words, it sounds more musical. New Mullard 12AX7 Tubes Ready to GoEngaging the subsonic filter (also available via front panel pushbutton produces less low frequency rumble, but it also takes from a lot of the energy in the music resulting in an emotionally “flat” sound. Pro-Ject lists the filter as 20Hz with a slope of 18dB/octave however, the “20Hz” part confuses me because the filter doesn’t sound like it starts to drop at 20Hz. In fact, it sounds like it drops off at around 30-35Hz. The vacuum tubes, together with other essential features (the subsonic filter, gain levels, and mono configurations) all work in sync. Other phono preamps with the lesser or equal features of the Pro-Ject Tube Box S Phono Preamplifier have higher prices. Tube Box S2 is an outstanding phono preamp for its price. We recommend this model for those just getting into the world of vinyl records. With that being said, we think you should buy this only if you know how to take advantage of its features. Because if you’re going to ignore the premium features on it, just get the S2. Inspired by high-end designs but available for a very appealing price, the Tube Box S2 is a real audiophile bargain.
