Acceptance of our past, acceptance of the conditions presently in our lives that we cannot change, brings relief. I hope that all of my experiences have taught me something and that by sharing my life’s struggles and triumphs I might be able to continue to help others with a similar “dis-ease”, like I have. Life is a process of letting go, letting go of conditions we can’t control, letting go of people–watching them move out of our lives, letting go of times, places, experiences. The dy we awaken to will hold a golden opportunity — to make amends, to make changes, to use our time well, to start the rest of our lives anew. There are tons of materials out there on recovery, each providing similar, yet potentially different ways of moving through your journey. It is a sign of spiritual health to be able to ask God every day to enlighten me, to recognize His will, and to have the strength to execute it. We alcoholics were getting round-shouldered from carrying all those loads that drinking put on our shoulders.
