About this deal

The components (ie knobs) feel robust. The link of a recording to the laptop is extremely easy to set up and use. Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty The Allen & Heath Xone:23C is an advanced 2-channel DJ mixer that offers the best of digital DJ systems with professional controls and tools in a compact mixer that provides a pristine, clear sound. The xone 23C is equipped with a 4-channel stereo 24-bit/96kHz soundcard and also offers a plug’n’play X:Link connection for the Xone:K range of midi controllers, which makes it an ideal choice for live performers who would like to combine the power of digital DJing with the hands-on control of a real analogue mixer. This mixer makes a perfect addition to any home DJ setup as well as club and bar installations and is an excellent companion for travelling/mobile DJs.

Without prejudice to any other rights, Allen & Heath may terminate this EULA if You fail to comply with any of the terms of this EULA. In such an event, all rights granted to You under this EULA shall cease, You must cease all activities authorised by this EULA and You must destroy all copies of the Software and all of its component parts within your control. The sound quality is great though - rich and clear, and the quality of the pots compensates a little for the faders (traditionally the lowest point of any A&H product).

Conclusion

Software identified as “Not for Resale” or “NFR,” may not be sold or otherwise transferred for value, or used for any purpose other than demonstration, test or evaluation. Output Levels: From its balanced XLR main outputs, the Xone:23 pumps out a maximum +28 dBu, up from the Xone:22’s +25 dBu. not to translate, merge, adapt, vary or modify the Software or Documentation, assign the benefit or burden of this Licence in whole or in part, or to allow the Software to become the subject of a charge, lien or encumbrance; Something to note — despite being plenty of space inside the chassis, the power supply is external. So be ready to lug around (well relatively anyway) another wall wart in you. BUT IS IT A SCRATCH MIXER? Still on some very silently recorded vinyls Gain is not enough (some 'silent' albums with 20+ minutes on each side). For singles Gain is enough.

If you don’t need to go hamster, then the answer is yes. But conventional scratchers will be happy enough. The lag is a hefty 4mm per side, but if you fancy breaking out the old school credit card mod, you should be able to close up this gap to whatever you like. However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers. And those amazing fully analogue filter! My mixes are so precise and clear! If you ever played with Xone 62 or 82 you know the sound, especially for vinyl. Phono-preamps on all digital mixers (pioneer, numark etc) are so harsh and bad sounding. With this mixer your vinyl will sound the same as with Xone 62 or 82. Or I don't hear much difference. What I hear is HUGE difference with Pioneers. Really. You will be surprised why they are considered 'industry standards'. Because everyone plays mp3s? a) is used only for the purpose of achieving interoperability of the Software with another software program; and Save where the Software forms part of a Product, this EULA (including any Allen & Heath addendum or amendment to this EULA which is included with the Software and the licences referenced in clause 2) constitutes the entire agreement between You and Allen & Heath relating to the Software and the support services (if any), and they supersede all prior or contemporaneous oral or written communications, proposals and representations with respect to the Software or any other subject matter covered by this EULA. To the extent the terms of any Allen & Heath policies or programs for support services conflict with the terms of this EULA, the terms of this EULA shall prevail over such conflicting provisions. There’s not really too much else to add: It performed exactly as you’d expect a two-channel mixer too with no surprises. As predicted the filter is addictive, the headphones volume was nice and loud… and that’s about all you need to know about using the thing. Conclusion

The Xone:23’s new Alpha up faders offer more resistance, and the user-changeable crossfader with selectable cut and fade curves is compatible with the Mini Innofader. Our A&H demonstrator on the show floor related that all Xone mixers this year will be compatible with Innofader, implying that more Xone mixers are on the way. KEY DIFFERENCES The former Xone:22 (left) and the new Xone:23 (right) This is where we need to talk about the difference between two channel mixers and scratch mixers. There is an assumption that two channels = scratch. This is quite wrong, and the xone:23 typifies this perfectly. The filter in practice is a lot of fun to use and you don’t actually miss not having two filters; I realised I don’t ever use more than one filter at once in my DJing anyway, and actually a benefit of having a simple filter on/off switch is that you can do an increasingly “wilder” filter effect, then return to “flat” instantly on a beat at the touch of a button, something not possible with a filter solely controlled by a knob as most “omnifilters” nowadays are. For a two channel mixer, the xone:23 is very well equipped. 2+2 channels, a great filter system, a S&R loop, and well specced outputs makes this a beast.

Feature wise, as Ive mentioned above the filter is strange at first but an excellent addition, after a while I came to prefer it to separate channel filters such as on DJM series. Another sweet ability is to have the ability to connect 2 inputs to each channel, meaning you could have a CDJ and Technics in the same channel, and these are basically controlled by the gain of each at the top. It's basically a 2+2 mixer - it's strange but works well. For this updated 2 + 2-channel mixer, the 2 channels have dual line and phone inputs, so four total inputs with a line and phone pair each routing to one mixer channel. However, rather than a single input level knob with a line/phono switch like on the Xone:22, the Xone:23 has input level knobs for each of the four inputs. So you could have both inputs active on the same channel if you wanted to; otherwise, you can kill one input with a full level cut. From the official user manual: switch to line levels on the phono inputs Looking at the layout first – mixer convention generally dictates that the channels sit in the middle of the chassis, and the rest of the gubbins sits around that. This is not the case with the xone:23. A&H have gone out of their way to keep the channels separated, thus pushing the line faders further apart than most scratch DJs can handle. And putting controls between the line faders not only clutters up the normal clear fader area, but makes it just about impossible to spread your fingers to handle both faders with one hand.
