All told, their really needed to be a chapter or 2 more on the book to properly finish the loose ends, and an epilogue telling how the characters turned out in the future would have been nice. And then of course… someone appears to hate our heroin and keeps leaving her cryptic, yet threatening notes.

They have so much richness and depth to add to the Neighborly Affection universe in the present and in the past. And in Binding Their Hearts, the unique way that Barber explores their love for one another becomes replete.There are many likable characters and different personalities coexisting in Neighborly but they are very easy to keep track of as the character development by Ms. I loved the descriptions of all the characters and how they interacted and the undercurrent that was running through the book, what was the secret, well I never saw that coming, no spoilers from me, but I thought this was a cracking good read and I enjoyed reading it. BUT if you can suspend your disbelief, get sucked into the horror, the sexual depravity, the bizarreness of it all. The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because generally they are the same people. For Heaven, that means going to Calvin’s boxing matches though she hates the scrutiny and often feels others don’t think she’s worthy of him.

But either way I couldn’t put it down ’cause I had to know where this was going, and just how it could possibly resolve itself. The neighbors in this idyllic neighborhood are outwardly welcoming and at the same time deliciously creepy, and the secrets that bind them all will shock and surprise you.
